Is the Flat Tax the fairest system for everyone?

Until someone shows me concrete figures proving that a flat tax would provide the government with enough funds to meet its annual budget, it won't get my vote.

considering we have a govermnet that has over a trillion dollars that can not be accounted for and will never be seen again---what does the annual budget really mean?

Why would the rich guy have to pay more taxes and get the same benefits the person making 35,000.00 would get. You can complain all you want but its still unfair to the wealthy. Why should the pay more if they arent getting anything else. Do not reply with retarted answers because of jealousy. Im seriously interested why a rich guy should pay more if he isnt getting more. Make it fair and equal for all.

because there are less rich guys than poor guys, and everyone's vote counts equally.

I'd guess that if you assigned voting power according to wealth, we'd have a much different system.....

I dont know what you are considering the elite rich. My parents surpass the upper tax bracket and pay 50% of their earnings to taxes. I use the same roads, library and schools as other people that do not pay half that amount. Im sure there are many people who do not even pay taxes, but recieve a check from the govenment...And they still use the same resources as I. So why is it fair that the rich pay more?
Our progressive tax system lessens the burdens on the poorest of the poor and taxes the middle class and upperclass in regards to their salary. Of course the people who make alot of money should end up with alot of money. Would you be happy if everybody was taxed to the point where they ended up with the same amount of cash. Everyone making the same no matter what? Thats communism.
Obviously if they are making alot of money they are doing something to deserve it, not for it to be eaten all away by taxes...And for the record, im sure the Trumps' and Gates' pay alot more in tax than anyone here and recieve no extra benefits from the government.

how does a person who earns 18k a year get hurt more than a person making 40k a year under the flat tax?

18k x 10%=1800
40k x 10%=4000

same percentage only the person making more pays more money. it's not much more but it's still a bit more, that leaves approximately 36000 dollars for them to live off of whereas the guy making 18k will have 16200 to live off of. people won't pay the same amount but the same percent. that's fair. what we got now is the elite rich getting off with paying almost jack through the countless loopholes in the system. my belief is with the flat tax of say 15%, you can do away with deductions and close loopholes. if we all pay the same percent then we don't need to itemize and deduct.

It isn't rocket science to figure out how big business has made its money----Sure hard work and an idea are the basis of it but how many people have they had to step on and walk over to get there millions. They like to use the word lazy or unmovitivated....How many people were underpayed---overcharged--how many loopholes have they used--pay offs ect....
Now our system that is in place allows anyone to do the same---My question would be ---Why shouldn't the rich pay more taxes?????

You got to be kidding me---
did Enron do something to deserve there money?---How many other enrons are out there???More then anyone could ever imagine.

You can just imagine what the Trumps and the gates of the world have done to put money in their pocket....Our government is and always will be run by big business--is that fair???
We don't elect who will run for president etc...Big business does(then we the sheep vote for which one would be better)its a hoax

ahhh.... the infamous "loopholes." everyone knows that they exist and allow the rich to figuratively spit in the eye of the working poor, but no one can really describe how they work or where to find them in the code -- can you identify some of them?

i'm not tax expert and never claimed to be. i cannot describe the loopholes but i have heard about how the elite rich(very small %) get through them. one theory i have is the contributions to political parties and or their candidates which are later written off. the money bypasses it's needed use and goes to fund a person or party rather than the country.

i'll clarify my earlier statement. i do not think the rich should pay more, however; with a flat tax rate they will still pay more amount wise than a poor person but the % is the same and they will have more pocket money to fork into the economy in a way they see fit. the economy would be stronger if people had more money to spend which would do more to stimulate it than taxing people into serfdom.

everyone pays X% period.
