is real estate in NO going to be dirt cheap, once the water is pumped out?

edwards=piece of shit
debartolo= piece of shit
Cleo Fields=piece of shit.....proof that if you draw a district that stretches across 80% of the state in 1/2mile widths at some points because you cried racism, any finger in the ass moron can get elected then filmed taing a bag of cash and walk.

--all the above out for themselves and noone else regardless of race creed color etc despite of what they will say and what they convince some to believe

Marc Morial I didnt mention because the lets hide the fact that i'm gay and still want to desperately pretend to be down w/ the black man even though i would shit if i looked in a mirror and found out i was one,is a theiving racist arrogant scumbag piece of shit who did irreperable harm to this city and has never, ever given two shits about anyone other than himself, and the fact that everyone of his scumbag relatives and 90% of his friends are currently under indictment you would think would give him a clue, but it doesnt. He never did one thing for the city, for "his people" or for anyone except his tight circle of cronies whom he helped line thier pockets as well as his own. He drove both citizens and industry away in droves and still cant believe it....it aint rocket science. The fact that someone can actually give that useless used condom a position like head of the Urban League absolutely should astound anyone with an IQ over 7......perfect example of how the right line of bullshit can sway anyone. I dont follow the urban league at all but i cannot imagine its worth 2shits anymore wwith that moron in charge of it. May he become a fly stuck in a pile of shit for eternity. His indictment and conviction is on the horizon, trust me :mix:

the defections in the NOPD...well thats pathetic, but the dept has been in a serious downtrend, mostly becasue of the idiotic residency requirement and lowering hiring standards and academy standards to the lowest common denominator in order to better reflect "the culture" of the city...ie lets pass up qualified applicants at any expense so we can have as many black faces in a uniform as possible so we in charge can look like freidsn of the community when in reality we dont give a shit and we just wanna appease the "ministers" who come out of the woodwork with monday morning quaterbacking and making everything a racial incident to line their own pockets .....there are/were officers on that force that shouldnt be rolling toilet paper on cardboard much less being the police....they dont posess the intelligence, physical skills, character or anything else to be in law enforcement but they're railroaded thru with a sliding scale of standards to meet quotas.............in short.....shit in,shit out........then people wonder why you see some of these worthless pieces of crap stealing tv's,running like cowards unable to keep the oath they swore, and just generally being incompetent....not a hard thing to figure out. out of those that left,i do think when all is said and done a couple will turn up dead because they drowned etc,and the rest should be exposed for being the cowards they are and exiled from law enforcement back to burger king where they belong. I could go on for another hour here about this but this is sufficiently off topic now :)

You may not agree and i understand that and i dont take it personal, but the katrina aftermath is the fault of Nagin and Blanco..they goat fucked it from hour one....i was there..no finger pointing,no 'right wing' aspect, just fact....further proven by the fact that jefferson parish has been progressing along since katrina day 2.......noone in jefferson threw up their hands and sent out emails begging for help or sat with their thumbs in their asses for three days, they simpley got shit done....strong leadership vs complete incompetence.

OK , I tap...
Man you sound like those Covinton people , they just don't like anybody ,lol

Didnt know if you were from there or just lived there :)

Nagin couldnt run Cox Cable and it was his partial ownwership in the NO Brass and subsequent bankruptcy which caused the Brass to fold and fucked his other partners real deep and hard.....he wasnt going to reconstruct anything except his own reelection

I know nagin and my ISP Communiqué made some decent cash with citylan downtown. we also provided quality service to CBD New Orleans customers

I did NOT know he was part owner of the Brass. I'm not a hockey fan to be honest. If I wanna see a fight , I'll go watch UFC , lol

Anyway Cox is a great company , having worked with them. But in some respects I agree with your assessment as Nagin turned democrat for the election so I think race definitly played a role in that change.

No,not from covington,no desire to live there,i like the city...i live there, own property there, own or at least used to a business there(40yrs) and been in law enforcement there since 1988...and watched the city be dragged down by stupidity all this time....instead of forcing residents to rise, they have been allowed to digress to the lowest common denominator over and over again....those days are over now.

Nagin and the Brass...Nagin had an LLC that like other businesses was a part owner of the team...they all knew the day would come when they could no longer use the Municipal Auditorium and may have to spend a time being non operational.....business wise they did well, the auditorium deal went south like they knew it would, and they had all agreed/made arrangements to keep the team financially alive for one calendar year, even if they didnt play until they could relocate etc. When the day came, instead of stepping up like the other owners, his LLC suddenly went bankrupt..oh darn....forcing the other partners to declare as well or lose their asses, without a choice. ....hence no more Brass. He's a shitsack

That's the "stereotype" of northshore people. Well this stereotype comes from a downtown defense attorney I know...

Unfortunately with the levee bing in neglect as they have been , now people in the areas hardest hit is where poor folks lived. Now with those areas washed out , we now have a "weeding out" process where "the lowest common denominator" has essentially been eliminated from town.

Anyway that levee broke on the Orleans side and those lakeview folks most of which aren't broke either. They own thier homes , pay property tax , good job etc. I don't think any of those folks were screaming for help either. They , as you say , contribute to the town.

We've been focusing alot on poor folks and how they will have a "rude awakening" when they go into cities such as Atlanta. How they weren't contributing to New Orleans to begin with. Contributing to the town requires $$$ which they didn't have. The "pieces of shit" which you labeled earlier have some to quite a bit to do with the economic situation of the town. This will need to be addresses , but It will be interesting to see what heppens when businesses want to start opening up and employees still don't have homes , etc. I know some of my relatives have already found jobs in other towns...

The point you made about Jefferson ... Well that part of town isn't where the levee break happened. That particular levee which his the border between Jefferson and Orleans Parish, from the lake to just north of West End, the Jefferson side of that levee held... Anyway the bucktown people have money... They would have gotten out , and did, by thier own means. Infact I wouldn't be surprised if Deanie's is open right now , lol

The items still have not been addresses
1. Coastal areas are still eroding in Venice and Grand Isle. $$$ will be needed there tol stop the erosion due to damming of the Mississippi , creation of the Atchafalaya , sinking of the town, Seafood businnes stopped.
2. The levees need rebuiling (after they get patched)
3. Port of New Orleans in full operation.
4. The ecomony wasn't so hot ever since 911 since that town depends on tourism. Now there is no tourism

Unfortunately I will have to agree that Ray Nagin may not have a political career after this , but I hope it not because of use of school buses , lol. There wasn't any time fto organize all the bus drivers , and get to the people who needed evacuating from Saturday to Sunday in time for the hurricane to hit Monday morning

You've been saying it's Nagin and Blanco's fault, but it's FEMA's job to position people and resources in the places needed. They are a federal organization and they an get all the resources they need, even if it comes from other states (federalize) I don't see what the mayor and the Governor were supposed to do in terms of evacuating people with that 1 day they had.

Doesn't make any sense to buy a house in a town that has no businesses that provide jobs and no teachers for school kids... New Orleans Public Schools was on the corruption list to begin with.

Who is gonna buy a house from you after you fix it up?

Haliburton may be a good buyer after all

gj, not every potential homebuyer in nawlinz is married with 2.2 children.

the remaining undamaged, unflooded houses could be bought by single peeps or unmarried couple with no kids and no intention of having children. this growing group of potential buyers will be attracted to what is left of the core of the city by it's unique house styles, closeness to the city and the restaurants and nightclubs that will soon reopen. the sad public school syatem will not be an issue for this potential homeonwer group. i do believe that housing prices in the "core" area of nawlins will rise in value. quickly.

it won't happen overnight; but i feel the city of new orleans WILL raise from the muck and be rebuilt into a smaller but better city. the affluent section of lake view and uptown will be rebuilt, as the owners there have the income to do so. most of the french quarter, marigny and bywater received little/NO flood damage. prices in the historic area will skyrocket in the next year or so! once the assinine residency rule is lifted, the poice department will be able to attract and keep personnel.

as for the lower 9th ward....perhaps it's better if that area of town is not rebuilt.

#1 fuck jesse jackson
#2 fuck jesse jackson and his rainbow push bullshit
#3 when youre finished fuckin them the first time, fuck that moronic piece of racist shit twice again.
#4 if jesse truly cared about his "people",or the citizens.............he had ample time before the storm hit to bring these same buses down and help get them out,or to come in after the storm and help then......god forbid he get close to a little danger and do anything but run the toilet under his nose.

You're getting your stereotype of people from a friggin defense atty???????????????????????????????????????????? Cmon dude i dont know you and youre smarter than that...defense atty's are bigger lying 2 faced parasitic sacks of worthless shit than jesse jackson is.

Sorry...but the "evacuees" have NO business in participating in the rebuilding of the city, nor will they participate in it once they get here. They have not up till now,nor will they EVER contribute to the city's tax base or do anything but take. You know,i know it,the city knows and most of the world that tries to compartmentalize it and hide form it knows it. They are voluntarily unskilled, untrainable, uneducated and unmotivated to become any one of the above things. They want something for nothing, have always gotten it and now youre gonna have them forming caucuses and commissions and all that other bullshit to force themselves into claims they're deserving of managerial positions and BS like that even though they have no experience doing any of it,refuse to work when its not handed to em on a silver platter, and try to collect unemployment for their percieved injustices. They will however view jackson as a hero even though jackson will fuck them in a new york nanosecond to get himself ahead, then disappear into the next scenario he can turn into a racial issue for his own personal gain, leaving them hanging with their asses out till the next racial equality parasite comes along and fucks them again.

60,000 jobs, businesses, industry etc wont be lost, thats econommist tim i'm right 1/3 of the time so i can keep my state grant money ryan's theoretical musing. Each industry, whether its construction or whatever, creates in turn various other industries for support, sustainment etc. and in turn, all those people need places to live, eat, buy groceries. The difference in this this time around is that people will be brought in that actually go to work for a living and want something better for themselves, they arent going to just going to sit around on a porch with their pants hanging under their asses, quarters in their ears complaining about how "the system" and "the man" or some other magical unseen force is holding them down.

Public Schools in the city are in plain english, with the exception of a few, complete shit......thats no secret. Thehy are underfunded, the board is corrupt, funds have been mismanaged, again no secret...funny none of this happened when the McDonogh foundation funded the school system but god know we couldnt have that,we wouldnt want our children to actually have a worthwhile educational experience,we'd rather point fingers, blame it on middle class blacks and whites for abandoning the system, and pass off contracts to our pals. As for teachers being laid off...GOOD. They need to go,most were just placeholding towards a retirement and have put out an inferior product for years, guarantee you the ones that actually care will find a way to stay.

All this "rich could leave the poor were forced to stay" is such bullshit it kills me....if that were the case you would have seen the mythical 10k dead number the city was so readily touting for days. The people that stayed, want to stay in 90-95% of the cases, becasue they know,no matter what the city says it will open the dome as an emergency shelter at the last minute and they have someplace to go and dont have totake responsibility for themsleves, and in turn bitch because theyre only getting mre's and not ruth's chris 3x's a day, while they steal shit they cant possibly even use and destroy stuff they cant steal just for the fun of it..........but i guess thats the "rich" citizens fault as well? cmon

As for the levee break......jefferson controls one side, orleans controls the other......jefferson used the federal money without question to update the levee system, orleans forced their side to go out to minority bids and lowest bidder for "equality".......which side broke and where did they break? Gee lets see.....do the math.

Its not the "poor folks" who are going to have a rude awakening when they get to other cities, they're gonna demand something for nothing just like they have in NOLA......the rude awakening is going to come to the citites that embrace these little darlings with open arms and false apathy. They contibuted little to the town or its economy and will do exactly the same whereever they end up. I missed ,i guess the part of the constitution of this country that guarantees me a house,7k/month income, free food in the form of food stamps, and a govt subsidy for my house so i can live well above my means, get free health care and the resulting ammendments to it absolving me of all responisibility for both myself or taking care of what i'm given.

As for only "rich" areas being rebuilt.......i live in lakeview, own property there and will continue to do so....am i rich..no....was i born rich? not hardly.....were any of my nieghbors "rich"....no,majority upper middle to middle class who worked their asses off to get what they had........i got what i decided i wanted in this life becasue i got off my damn ass, went to school then used the education i went into debt and paid for myself to get a damn job and not sit on my ass all day, because i wanted better for myself. Did i fail at it a couple of times? sure, but it was becasue i made the wrong choice,it wasnt some unseen force mythically holding me back, nor was it up to some fuckin bullshit artist like jackson to help me "rise above" or "empower me".....you want to rise above you elevate the level of EVERYTHING you do...you dont demand that everyone else stop their progression to lower themselves to your level, which is what has happened for the last 30-35yrs..........i wasnt handed oppurtunities thru minority bidding, grants or any of the above,i had to create my own oppurtunities......its not easy, its work, and it can be done if you have the desire to do so. The majority of the citizens of new orleans, sorry to add reality in.....do not. The culture of entitlement and ridiculous mindset of bullshit has finally had its back broken and its about time.

As for Nagin and Blanco........sorry,theorize all you want but they are to blame. FEMA sux,as does the red cross and all these other shit organizations if you've bothered to work for a living before the disaster strikes.FEMA is not a first responder and relies on the locals to handle situations for 72hrs before they move in........did that happen? Not even close. Why? I-N-C-O-M-P-E-T-E-N-C-E.....believe the facts, not CBS articles and cries from the democratic party who desperately wanna blame who's in the white house for incompetence at the local level. Blanco and Nagin shouldnt be leading a manure pile around much less a city and state.

Wow , tell me what you really feel about Jesse Jackson... But I will keep hope alive :)
Anyway I dont remember mentioning his name. He's definitly not part of any evacuation or reconstruction process in NO. OK , to next subject

I can understand law enforcement having that opinion about defense attorneys. But unfortunately the system is not so clear cut as this defense attorney used to date one of the judges in Jefferson... Funny how you can pay the right lawyer , cross your finger and get his ex for a judge?? It's all about knowing who is who , especially in that town. OOh my, the great legal system of America...

Back to Jesse Jackon , man you really like him... Repeat after me , "I am somebody" J/K
I do think it's ineresting how he always ends up in the scene of some strife and sometimes its racial an sometimes it religoius such at the Terri Schiavo fiasco. I will agree self promotion has alot to do with it.

I don't remember placing blame on wealthy people for this. All were effected rich or poor. Resident or business. This is a 360 degree tragedy. I never pointed to the wealthy as being a source of problem in this issue.

But as you said yourself, many people stayed no matter what. Those people were not all poor however. Fats Domino , allen Touissant , irma Thomas ,etc did all stay and were not talking about poor people or those who don't contribute to the local economy. Many people feel there house is thier livelyhood and will stay no matter what and this doesn't include poor people. brett favre's folks in Mississippi come to mind. This one cannot be labled a rich or a poor peoplem , people of all classes and colors stayed throughout the storm.

Nagin and Blanco:
I will partially agree that they did not act quickly enough in
1. declaring state of emergency
2. mobilizing what national guard and coast guard resources they did have
3. ordering mandatory evacuation

But the fact remains the people who are experienced in disaster planning is FEMA. Who should have consulted the mayor and the governor of what their options were and how to best utilize those options... FEMA. Thier job is to coordinate as the republican committe talked about with Mike Brown. If there was some dispute between local officals, then I tihnk they should and MUST take some leadership in these types of situations in order to save lives. They are the disaster planners , not the locals. This issue about first responders seems mostly irrevevant to me as the press were in NO , Slidell , Gulfport, Biloxi reporting the story on the news about conditions during the hurricane. Obviosly locals such as yourself were out and about as well.

Anyway back to this soap box you're written about rich and poor. Please reread my statements as I never used people with money as a means to place blame on this situation. Most all were affected. No ALL have been affected and affected negatively. But the degree to which one was affected had alot to do with thier bank accounts so I have been placing emphasis on as you call it "the lowest common denominator" As we've found out the chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. This is exactly the problems with the levees. it mayu very well be true with the 17th street levee that the parishes of Jefferson and orleans used different tactics to secure the levees. One may have been alot more effective then the other. I would need to research this as it is an interesting topic in terms of appropriations

Anyway , enough from me

lemme rephrase something...

Do I feel that right winged politics ie "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" has something to do with the 30% of NO citizens remaining poor. Well in that case I will say it indeed a factor. The politicians I named , you very bluntly called "pieces of shit" and chronies... Obviously you believe this to a certain extent yourself.

Do you think there's a 30% below poverty line in Jefferson???

OK on that note we can talk about this money issue
