Is one set training the better way to go?

I can't justify doing some of the stuff that program preaches, with the amount of money i spend on gym memberships, there's no way i would feel good going in and being done in 15-20 minutes, like the heavy duty training suggests. Mentally i would feel cheated.
 
"By performing an additional set (50% to 100% more sets) only 0 to 5% more progress will be observed"

and where did they determine this fact? sure, there are some good ideas, but there was no support or even examples of progress made by real people. ive heard this before. some guy claimed that using this he gained like 80 pounds of muscle in 3 months and his 100 meter dropped by 2 seconds and all his lifts practically doubled. mm hmmm. sure.
 
I don't like one set training really. It works if you do it frequently, but I find it to be boring.

There are people (a lot of HST advocates) who swear by it.
 
I am currently doing one set training, DC training. But it includes a lot of warm ups and the set is rest paused, and followed by some truly excrutiating stretching, just trying it out while trying to pack on a few pounds.

I would not say im an advocate of any particular program, but for size purposes i believe that frequency is the most important part of the actual training. Even when doing more sets, i never hit a body part less than twice a week.

I actually might start hitting everything every 4 days, instead of once a week.

Something like:
Chest Shoulder Tri
Back Bi Trap
Legs
Rest
 
with DC training you are actually hitting everything twice in 8 days, which is actually less frequency than i am used to
