LOL, the commercial with Scott Van Pelt and one of the champion spellers was amazing. He was typing a piece up and had the kid at his side as the spell check. Asked the kid how to spell Pujols. I wish the kid would've gone P-O-O-H-O-L-E-S but ESPN is too pussy to do that. Instead Scott was just like I found it nevermind.
Then last year one contestant was imitating Napoelon Dynamite on stage and said "Do the chickens have large talons?" And of course no one in the crowd knew what he was saying and was like WTF? But the Sportscenters Anchors covered that and seemed to enjoy it cause it's easy to crack jokes on the kids who live their lives reading a dictionary.
Also, that same year, last year, the sign above the stage says Scripps because it's the Scripps spelling bee. The 'S' fell off and it said Cripps. Oh shit son!
I guess they pretty much televise it cause Jim Rome is teh suck and they have nothing better to show but a bunch of nerds.
I won the 7th Grade spelling bee at my school for spelling the word vermicelli right. How did I know how to spell it? I cooked it all the damn time. My teachers who were reading the words were like WTF? How did he get that. Once I see a word I can usually spell it correctly after that.
