Is Kerry's speech on Stem Cell research...

Outside of the war on iraq, THIS issue alone is enough to make me hate Bush. When he put a hold on stem cell research, that alone was enough for me to never vote for this man.

The 200 billion dollars he wasted fucking around with Iraq, could have done amazing things if just a fraction of it has been spend on funding stem cell research...which he instead banned.

Being more stringent does not include banning the research due to your personal religious beliefs does it?
When did I say that?

I believe I said it is not the "end all be all" people make it out to be, and as an issue/technology will have a very smaller effect on your daily lives, much smaller than people are being led to believe....

also there are critical problems with the technology before it has any possiblity if being even remotely useful here is a link to a basic summary

Did I ever argue for it to be banned?

And for wodin and Juiced - did I say that anyone hits the goldmine on the first try? Or did I argue against stricter review of solicitations for funding?

really - trying to put words in peoples mouths and ignoring arguments in favor of rhetoric does little to effect people's opinions.

what makes me sick is that people tout stem cell research as the end all be all... it does have some potential, but there are many other promising technologies which don't get preferential treatment and other areas/diseases that also need to be adressed (how many people does alzheimers affect again? how many people are freshly paralyzed? - okay - now how many have HIV?)...

also many researchers just plain suck and don't get good results but they still get funding for ideas... which is bullshit.

people get all enthused/excited about the most ridiculous shit research...

like the "vitamins cause cancer" that is circling around again

this is a small issue that has very little importance IMO and stem cell research isn't going to have much effect on daily lives as people would like to believe.

Exactly. IMO the biggest threat/WMD is and continues to be HIV/AIDS, not
Saddam Hussain. Plus how many people died from Anthrax? less than 5 maybe!! How many have died from Aids??!!!

BBF - This is exactly what I am talking about...

I agree the money could have been spent in a more productive way....

BUT stem cell research has many pitfalls still to be worked out that are well known and really unaffected by this issue (see article linke in post #24 above)... AND like I said - how many people total have alzheimers or another condition that is even appropriate for this?

not many...

tey have done a great job making this a real "heart-strings" issue when it is realitivly insignificant.

BTW if you ever thing EITHER party will give 200billion to research, or if you think giving such a sum will speed up advances - you are kidding yourself...

I can not have sex or have safe sex or one partner sex and not die from Aids.

I can't do anything about terrorists attacking us or whacko world leaders myself..
