Bro's,

Been a member here for about 2 years and have posted a few questions regarding diet and cycles...Me being more a reader and learner than a questioner. So, here is my saga...

Began working out in 2000 in my EARLY 50's and employed a trainer. Reasoning was that if I was going to spend time in the gym I might as well learn the right way to learn how to lift.

Changed trainers in 2002 to a trainer who excelled in form but NOT the amount of weight. I learned a lot from her and she moved away and left me in the care of a trainer that knew form and weights and steroids.

I did my first cycle in 2003 with Deca and Test. For my age felt great and was amazed at what I accomplished lifting. He kept me working hard and lead me to believe that it was all about me and what I could do. Yes I did make gains over the years for someone MY age.

Late last year we decided that I would do a contest. He felt that I could place at least 2nd in the Masters. I agreed and we decided on a program that would be best for me. I purchased over 700 worth of supplements from him in prep for the contest. I bought posing suits, supps, etc. What I had purchased in prior to this good.

Well he had a hit and run accident (I verified with the locatl PD Dept) and he had MY gear in a duffel bag, Needless to say he had all that confiscated when the police caught up with him. So I'm out 700

Along with all of this my MOM passed away several weeks after this happened and I'm still trying to deal with all of this.

Question IS?????? Is it OK for me to take some time off from lifting?? I really do love it but for NOW feel betrayed by my trainer and grievingthe loss of my mom

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and feelings,

Mark

Sorry to hear about your run of misfortune esp. the passing of your mom. I have been training religously for over 25 yrs. Throughout that time I have hit some bumps in the road also, and missed workouts for whatever reason. Training will always be there for you, you can always pick it up again. Right now you should deal with your mom's passing and grieve, no matter how long it takes. Trainers are a dime a dozen so I wouldn't worry about him/her. Get your i's dotted and your t's crossed and everything else will fall into place. Good Luck

After learning and experienceing how hard the bodybuilding lifestyle can be on the body I have decided to start incorporating scheduled long term layoffs for health and long term progress reasons.
A month off each year to let the body rest and recoup I beleive to be very beneficial to regain motivation and allow all the nagging injuries a chance to heal

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Take some time bro, we all need a little break. The gyms and trainers will be waiting for you when you are ready.
