is it possible to gain while

Sub-Zero

High End Bro
Platinum
while maintaing fat levels? not BF% but i mean actually maintaining fat,- so your gaining lbms but not nonlbms so ur getting leaner

or does that fall under the "innefecient and near impossible cutting while growing"

geez what a dumb question

drugs aint an option for me yet

Compeletely respect that Iron Bro!

They definitely are a very important factor in producting most of the physiques that we aim to emulate...

I do believe that adding pure muscle and therefore reducing your BF% is attainable without them but it just requires more time as the balance is so hard to get right. One calorie more than is required leads to a spec of fat and one calorie too little will limit muscle growth. (obviously)

If you are trying to gain lean mass by eating above maintenance level calories you will add some fat. To try and get so retentive about everything so as to achieve 'no fat gain' will just limit your success because there is a fair chance you wont be eating enough to grow.

IMO Your best option is to eat big, adding about 250-500 cals a week until weight gain occurs, but eat as clean as possible to limit the fat gain.

If you feel uncomfortable adding any more fat to your current bf%, for whatever reason, why not lean up for a month or so and then continue once bf is lower?

I found if I was not happy adding any more fat to my frame i would not eat enough to produce decent results muscle wise but did not want to cut because i was wanted more size. This just leaves you in middle ground - choose one and go for it...

completely agree w/ dub on this one. i don't juice either... and i used to be fat, and when i got cut i wasn't as big as i wanted (i'm still not  ). It IS possible to find that exact calorie zone, to gain mass, but not BF.. but its gonna be DAMN hard! I say just cut down, then eat big and grow some muscle real quick :) I just hope you dont have the "fat kid" complex i have.. i'm always afraid that when i start to bulk i'm gonna blow up and look like i used too... :worried: :worried: :worried:

good luck

Cut first, then bulk. It's SOOOOO much easier to bulk when you don't have to worry about putting on a little bit of fat.

It depends on condition and experience. Novices can accomplish this goal without too much problem assuming they have some decent fat on them. Really out of shape people with a ton of fat to lose manage this too. If you are an experienced lifter with sub 12%BF, probably going to be very difficult for you to pull this off with any appreciable degree of success (at least natural).

i am probably like 18, i can see the top 4 abs tho but still appear to be a fatass i will probably just keep going

You can't bulk and lose fat unless you're on roids. It just doesn't happen.

Because an "anabolic environment," which is what you create when you overeat, is anabolic to all tissues, including fat. Your best bet is to bulk from as low a BF as possible. Then you will minimize fat gain.

agreed 100%. I have tried the whole lean mass thing and did nothing but chase my own tail in circles.

During the first couple of years I think it's even likely that this is how you'll gain. Your body has to respond to the work by growing muscle and, unless you're starving yourself, it will grow muscle. The fat levels will likely even go down. This has happened to me every time after a layoff over the past twenty-odd years even when I haven't let it slide overmuch.
