Adjective because it describes something/someone
Or
Noun because it is a person, place, or thing???

yeah well the actual word nigger means a black person. people use the word to descibe things that would describe a black person. it is definitely a noun. now go back up to your tree stand and get me some deer sausage :)

Nigger is a noun. But it originates from two words.... negro (spanish noun) and niger (Latin Adjective). It simply means black person and was not always a derogatory word.

Actually the HISTORY of the word from the two root words means black person, in the 1800s it started to become derogatory. The word itself has been around MUCH longer then that, just not in the United States. So, I am not incorrect.

Yes, she does (And she's nice) and we're both right. My post was referring to a European origin of the word and bikinimom was referencing the street slang/slur that has been since it's use in the US post Civil War.

Using the word in any text is stupid as any racial slur is.

Speaking on the topic... I was watching a show on MTV about a high school in a small town in Mississippi that still has separate proms.... a white prom and a black prom... and is kept that way but the white run school board and white teacher staff even though the school was 70% black. It was really disgusting, just the entire show. They interviewed one girl, she was black and had the highest GPA in her class but was not given the title valevictorian (sp) because of her color. Damn shame that people live and breath such segregation in the 21st century....

Nigger can be used as an adjective. For instance in your last sentence, deer is an adjective because deer is used to describe the type of sausage. If your last sentence said, "The deer is in the woods." deer would be a noun in that case.

If you used the phrase "nigger sausage", then nigger would be an adjective. It depends on the usage of the word, not the word itself.

How do you know the black students don't want it that way also? The word nigger precedes end of the Civil War. I've read old historical documents that use it. I've got a copy of an abolitionists diary and he uses it. The abolitionist was sent by the Union down south to run a plantation where the blacks were forced at gunpoint without pay to continue harvesting cotton for the Union.
 
It is an adjective. Ignorant people or, whom it describes, made it an ugly word.

Oh and if there is any one person that takes offense to the word when it is indirected used is ignorant as well. You think I get offended if someone says, HONKY, SALTINE, CASPER, CRACKER, etc.. I could give a shit.

He went into the bus station "boys" room and got chased out by blacks. Apparently the "boys" room was for black men. The "men's" room was for white guys. Segregation is enforced by both races. It's a social order, not necessarily something white people inflict upon black people. Have you ever noticed that even without laws people of similar races will often automatically sit near each other in public places even when they do not know each other?

i agree. my black friends call each other nigger, but when i try to drop it, they say its racist. racism is by far the biggest 2 way street in the US. everyone tries to blame whitey but the fact is, african americans, asians, latinos, etc, are all equally racist. its just easier to point the finger at the white man because historically, its been an easy out.

Look where I live people aren't openly racist. Thank goodness I don't have to live in the middle ages. On this PARTICULAR show that I was watching for ONE school in Mississippi they discussed racism and segregation. It involved ONLY the Junior class and senior class. It was a big deal because the senior class went AGAINST the school and had a non segregated senior prom which is why the show was taped. Because of this the junior class received a lot of scrutiny because their junior prom was segregated..... now being segregated it meant the "snobby white upper middle class" kids had a prom and all of the other kids had a prom.... the "black prom" included white, half white, black, ...etc.... the only people it did NOT include were the "snobby white upper middle class" people. Now since the "black prom" had both black and white individuals I do not see why they would care if it were segregated because their OWN prom was not segregated. Although it did make their prom more enjoyable not to have to deal with the other students. I felt the vibe that the show REALLY emphasized on the negativity of the all white faculty of the school and the white juniors.

When I need to sit down I just look for a cute guy ;)

it's a versatile word that can be noun, adjective, verb, etc...depending on how it is used

another example is the word: "fuck" it can be used in more than one way.
