I don't take it as such - your opinions and emotions are as valid as mine and I didn't intend to imply that they weren't. On some level I even agree with you. which is why I throw out there that I admit I cannot be unbiased and unpredjudiced. I dont see how anyone is equating that with a 20s or 30s or whatever woman making adult decisions whether or not to arm herself with knowledge, self defense classes, weapons, or common sense.

I was pretty sure rape was not even mentioned in your initial post. Assault in this case was just that and not rape... at least that's what I understood of your post.

To clarify my response (to those of you who have failed to read it for what it was): 9-11 was not assault and MEN AND WOMEN does not mean CHILDREN. I was not referring to rape assaults because clearly that subject can't be discussed rationally by ANY member on this board. If a person is assaulted once, through no fault of their own, then clearly yes they are a victim. (That doesn't mean they have to just stand there with their thumb up their ass and let it happen either.) If that same person does nothing to educate themselves on how to prevent it from happening again then they have just proven that they CHOOSE not to be responsible for themselves. End of point.

I retract my original statement that I disagreed that this topic SHOULD BE discussed as it *might* enlighten many.

You both were right and I could not have been more wrong.

You will NEVER hear me bring it up on elitefitness chat and conversation again.

Something tells me though, that those who regularly make jokes about women being beaten AND raped and all sorts of violence and degrading acts against women in general (talk about your hypocrites) will continue with their comments.

Food for thought, for the thread's originator: perhaps you should have made it very clear in your initial post or certainly after Angel's emotional response to RAPE that your thread was not about RAPE but about a simple assault. Odd though, that didn't happen until what page 10 or 11? Not once was it brought up that it is common for females of all ages to be abducted from shopping mall parking lots even in broad daylight, etc... A *little clarification* could have gone a looooooooooong way.

You have no idea how many people privately intimated to me that this thread was somehow a "relatiation" for my having the BALLS to post up a thread about RAPE yesterday. And in part, because of that sort of feeling, a thread like this that might have been a great service to all was twisted into something negative.

There is no such thing as truth, but only perception and perception is REALITY.

Interesting turn of events though... after the outrage of many board members who are sick and tired hatred of towards women, jokes about raping, beating degrading women, etc is FINALLY being publicly expressed by many, all of the sudden the worst offendors feel the need to DENOUNCE such behavior?! Give me a FUKKIN BREAK.

This type of attitude has been prevalent all too long on elite and while it may be no skin off the nose of some, many people have grown weary of it. I find it sickeningly funny that THE WORST OFFENDERS had a sudden attack of political correctness and felt the need to come out on THIS THREAD and say how horrified and disgusted they are by such acts ONLY AFTER so many women came forward by sharing THEIR personal experiences

.....but when it WAS ME who began a thread about RAPE because it was important to ME and I felt that if anyone was insensitive enough to continue to make such jokes then perhaps an open discussion on the boards was warranted. I was called names, my "motives" questioned, even implied that "I was making it up for attention"....

Those men make me want to vomit and I don't need to name names, the entire board knows you for the type of human beings that you are. What, is it only ok to speak TO ME that way? Why because you don't like that I use caps to emphasize words? Or because I like to bold and capitalize and use color to emphasize others? Did that make it OK to berate and attack me? Or was it something else....?

....But when so many other women on the board have the courage to come forth with their personal tragedies all of the sudden it ain't so cool anymore?

Surprize, surprize of the what 7 women who posted 4 were raped? Funny, the first woman who volunteered her story was DEGRADED.... but when several others came forth all of the sudden it wasn't cool to attack the women anymore?

I hope that none of you are ever touched by violence of ANY sort. Sadly, as long as the current atmosphere of propogating/poking fun at violence, hatred and the degradation of women period remains and is tolerated ANYWHERE (on elite chat and conversation, yea this may "only" be cyberspace, but we are all still "here") hatred towards women in general will live long and prosper. You boyz oughtta be proud of yourselves. I know your mothers most likely are.
