I think it is a killer ... the #1 source of fast sugar that leads to water retention, insulin spikes and fat. A sister to cake.

As you eat it, your body begins to crave more. A vicious cycle. Ever watch people eat in a resturant? Bread and more bread products. And they are all overweight.

I also do not accept the "whole grain is good" position.

Replace the bread with colorful veggies over 4 weeks and watch the difference. :)

damn i just got home from the store with a loaf of bread to well what i do is usually eat 2 chicken sandwitches in the morning then through out the day i will have some tuna sandwitches with no mayo just the tuna out of the can but the thing is i dont use 2 slices of bread i use one and fold it in half so in all id say im eating around 5 slices a day. So your suggesting i stop?

It all comes down to calories in/out. If you can fit it in your Daily calorie intake, then eat it. Fiber is good for you.

thelion is right on about Bread makes you crave more food. I find for me bread is not filling, and My mind says what's next to eat im still hungry. I usually eat a Crao load of lettuce to fill me up with my sandwich.

so ur saying as long as i can control my urges for more and fit it into my daily calorie intake ill be good?

No breads are processed. If you are cutting they should not be in your diet at all. During a cutting cycle you should eliminate all processed foods.
More of your daily intake of carbs should be coming from fiborous carbs {veggies} not starchy carbs. Try keeping the starchy's low and choose non-processed ones like sweet potatoes.

man there's this new flavored tuna in smaller cans out there, like tomato basil, spicy peanut satay, thai, lemon etc, they're usually low in any sort of sugar additives (3-4g) and contain a boat load of protein, and taste great!

Im cutting right now so NO BREAD for me. My carbs consist of all natural oatmeal and brown rice...apple here and there and LOTS of veggies. Bread is REALLY processed but when I wasnt cutting, I liked to make my own bread out of natural whole wheat flour and flaxmeal....so GOOD....if you know how to cook, although bread is fairly simple to make. Ive played around with it too, like I would add cinnamon and raisins..apples... to the bread, Ive also added in jalapenjo(spell?) peppers , tomato, basil.....ive done the garlic bread thing and use butter flavored cooking spray.....so many varieties. Also, you are lucky since you are a man...so you can get away with eating bread b.c you carry more lean mass than a woman does. I on the other hand will just store bread in my ass ...for some reason...so when cutting its a NO!!!!.....they have low carb/low sugar bread I think, just keep in mind that even the good kind of whole wheat/whole grain braid is SUPER processed, has coloring dye in it, and is most of the time fortified/enriched with minerals since the wheat kernel is damaged in processing...
-Hope this helps u make the RIGHT carb option choices!!!

thanks i appreciate all the help. right now im workin on a meal plan i have cut the bread out so this is what im lookin at right now tell me what ya think.

morning:protien shake before run
after run/before lift: chicken breast (with another protien shake only on lift day)
3:00 tuna or salmon in a can no bread
5:cottage cheese lowfat or more tuna.
8: more chicken breast, some veggie, soup.
11: more cottage cheese and thats it for the night.

Your calorie intake is MOSTLY protein. I would recommend adding in all natural oatmeal and brown rice. Do you know anything about ketosis?. Have you ever gone on fitday.com???

dont know a thing about ketosis but one thing is i heard you need to have at least 1 gram of protien per pound of body weight if you really want to see weightlifting results thats why i try to stay so high with the protien. ill check the site out though.

so wait are you saying oatmeal is good cuz i have some sitting right here but its got alot of sugar should i be concerned with the sugar amount ?

You need to have the old fashion oats not instant in a packet. You can add cinn and splenda to taste. This is good in the morning.
Try adding in a sweet potatoe to one of your protien meals
Most guys go for 1.5-2 grams of protien per pound of weight.
Are your calorie high enough for your weight?

I think so i honestly dont really keep track of the calories as much as the protien. Where do ya find the old fashioned oats, what are they called? Again thanks for all the help.

They have them at any grocery store the say "Old Fashion Oats" either 5 min or 1 min oats, and come in a small or large tub. Quaker is the most popular sold and then each store has their own brand. They do not come in a box or packet.
There are so many ways to prepare them to make it not so boring,
splenda cinnamon
fruit
sugar free fruit preserves
protein powder
ANPB or ANAB
unsweetened cocoa
suger free maple syrup
