Is an Apple Power Mac all that useful?

In a Windows world, are these machines all that useful? Can they browse IE, play video clips, and do day-to-day things?

I'm seriously considering putting at least one Power Mac in my house just to try it out...

Mac's have less computing power per dollar spent than a PC. Mac's offer fewer software programs than PC's. Mac's are incompatable with more websites than PC's. In general Mac's are not better...unless...

...you use a Mac for video or audio manipulation. Mac's generally offer a better platform for creating music and video.

Here at school we have a wireless network. If you had a Mac you wouldn't be able to access it because of compatibility issues. Mac users here are not happy. Apples are for worms...

I love mine and pick up my neighbors Linksys as well as some other signals that are not password protected. I can use windows based programs and use IE. In fact the only thing I dislike thats on it, is a windows based program, I hate excel. lol!
I have never gone to a site and not been able to view it. If you run OS9 then you may have problems, but I have a G4 powerbook and run the latest version of OS X... Tiger, I likes the widgets! does some cool stuff. I will never go back to a pc.

Well for my new house I'd still have PC-based gaming machines and a PC-based laptop for work.

I was just wondering for the other "utility" computers in places like the kitchen office... Aren't Macs a lot easier to maintain and require fewer updates and such? I'm thinking low maintenance and reliability here.
