Is a trainer a necessary evil?

I hired a trainer when I first started working out, so that I could get familiar with the equipment. It's really not in our budget since I am a SAHM and we live on one modest salary. I have a few things I do from home on the side, so when I get a bit extra I was paying for additianal sessions.

All that said, Eric (the trainer) hit on me hard the other night when we were chatting. We weren't at the gym and I had called him for source info for hubby. So, he wasn't doing anything ethically wrong....

Anyway, I told hubby what happened, and of course he doesn't want me talking to Eric anymore. I am respecting his wishes, which leaves me without a trainer.

I have the basics down. The only think I might need guidance on is when to increase my weights, and how to get over any plateaus. And if I decide to compete, I would of course look for a trainer with some experience in that area.

So is going without a trainer ok for someone relatively new to bodybuilding? I really don't want to move to another trainer at my gym... it would just lead to drama that I don't need.

... "source info" for the hubby?

Does that mean hubby knows how to lift? How come he can't help you?

Hubby and I go at different times. He works nights and goes to the gym at about 4 am. He sleeps from 7am-ish to 3:30, and works from 4:30 to early AM.

If I go, I have to take the kiddos with me (SAHM = no babysitters) so I go around 9 am every day.

Not to mention... I get embarrassed easily. I don't want him there cuz he'd prolly laugh his ass off at me. LOL

Why would your husband laugh at you... ? You are in there doing your body good... all of us were beginners...

Not laugh as in cruel. Laugh as in poke fun at me. He knows I get embarrassed easily and like to needle that weakness sometimes.

Gosh, I'm starting to think I shouldn't have even bothered asking. I didn't realize this was going to turn into me having to defend my husband.

Pretty unprofessional. I would hire a female trainer because it really does make a diff when starting out. you will make the most gains as a newbie & you want to learn the correct form.

I would let the management know about Eric- what an ass.

If there are female trainers there, you coudl probably buy say 5 sessions and use 1-2 every 6-8 weeks to get a new workout.
