Is 315lbs on flat a big deal?

I have read a couple threads on here before about different lbs and what is an accomplishment.
Today I benched 315 for the first time and it didn't seem like it was all the great of a deal. I mean don't get me wrong, I am hyped that I did it finally because I remember for years going after only 225. But I remember once I hit 225 I was so excited I was bouncing off the walls. This time I just sat up ad then removed the weights and went to my next exercise. Maybe I am just being lame about it. Sorry to anyone that was really excited about hitting 315. I just feel like there are so many other people doing so much more then that!!

i can not wait till i hit 315, i think it is a pretty big mile stone that puts you above the a&f gymmers.

To me, it's a very big deal, but I'm not even close. :)

Are you disappointed, or do you just have a new goal now? I bet you could see 315 coming for a long time now and actually hitting it was kind of anticlimactic. You were probably already starting to think beyond 315 before you got there too, right?

Depends who you are. To some it is a big deal, to others it isnt. Weird post, but I just feel like post spamming today :o

You know I think you hit it on the head. I hit 305 about 2 months ago and just never had the chance to max out again. So in the mean time I have still been busting ass. But you are right.... going into it I was already thinking of doing more weight!

But I guess it does look cool for one thing. 3 plates on each side. This one guys was looking at me and gave me a thumbs up before I did it.

lol @ the thumbs up!

Congratz bro!! Keep blasting PR's!

To me it would be a big deal if your bodyweight was rather low. If you had a guy that weighed 250 pounds that benched 315 lbs it wouldnt be a big deal to me.

I view any weight as a big deal when it's a PR. Bodyweight, experience, age, drugs used, number of scoops of Amplify 2.0, all of these pale into insignificance beside the fact that someone has just put up more than they've ever done done before.

Yes, it's a big deal. Congrats on your PR. Good luck with the next one.

Natural, yes it's a very respectable lift. If you've run any cycles then it's nothing to get excited about (unless your initals are S.B.)

i think 315 is a big deal depenind ong your body type.. short fat guys vcan bench 315 pretty easy .. for long skinny guys 315 is a decent lift..

yep...to me its weight dependent....

315 isnt great if someone weighs 250

I consider 1.5 - 2x bodyweight fantastic

Agreed! :Chef:

Yes it's a big deal, just like blut said no matter what the weight a pr is a pr. I still remember the first time I got 315 it was awesome. 405 felt much the same emotionally, and someday 500+ will be just as great. It's all a journey and every milestone along the way is important.

Cheers,
Scotsman

That is part of the problem.. I am 6'5 with about a 6'8 wing span and I weigh 230. So not too skinny but thinner then I would like to be.

Well, congrats anyway. I will give you the pat on the back even if you don't feel like you deserve it. PR always exciting I think.

Note this really doesn't apply to someone with a high bodyfat percentage...

I dunno.....I still consider a 275 guy pushing 550 impressive
