Irresponsible Practices at Total Nutrition

I saw an older friend of mine a few weeks ago. He is always looking to try the next new advertised testosterone booster and uses them frequently. He was doing so because he has confirmed low testosterone. Anyway, when I saw him we were talking about lifting and he pulled up his sleeve slightly and I noticed his arms were noticeably larger then when I saw him a few months prior. I asked him to show me the bottles of the "testosterone boosters" he was taking. He hands me a bottle of something called Vengeance made by, I think, Underground Pharma (Red flag immediately in my mind). Sure enouph, his "test booster" was in fact a stack of epistane and haladrol. He told me the sales rep sold him something for PCT too, so I took a look at the PCT product to find out that is just a bottle of Epistane! So he walked in looking for a natural test booster and they sold him a 4 week h-drol and epistane cycle with a 4 week "PCT" of epistane! I was pissed off to say the least.

I told him that he is already on cycle, so at this point he might as well finish it out, but I had him stop it at 6 weeks rather then doing the full 8 weeks that was sold and recommended to him. We also ordered him a few SERMs to use for a PCT.

After I explained everything to him, he told me that he had used the same product about a year ago thinking it was a testosterone booster, and that was when he started having issues with his libido. I don't have a problem with people using prohormones, but I have a major problem with these kind of business practices. I wonder how many 18 year old kids are using prohormones and messing up their HPTA because they just don't know any better and some sales rep talked them into it. Using a prohormone and not even knowing your on a prohormone? That's unforgivable in my mind and for my friend it might mean having to go on TRT when it could have been avoided or postponed for quite some time.

It happens all the time. People put their trust in those who know more and sometimes those who know more, know more wrong information.

Ditto what Nelson said I worked at a gnc in college back when lg's m1d and methyl masterone were around and they were decently potent my boss pushed us to sell those to anyone at all

it is the persons responsibility to know what the heck they are taking. the ingredients are right there on the bottle. with the internet you can write them down and go home and do your homework before buying. we aren't old people that just take whatever the doc gives us, we are all smart enough and have access to the same shit everyone else does on the internet.

a 17 year old doesn't need supplements at all.. i never took a damn thing when i was that age.. i just worked my ass off in the weight room.. the only reason they have for walking into a supp store or buying supps is they want a short cut period. also where do these kids get the money to buy supps? when i was that age i was making a nickel above minimum wage. i guess mommy and daddy's money is being used here. lol at spending 50 bucks on a bottle of anything, i was lucky to be able to afford a couple bucks for gas money to go to my job at that age.

I don't want to completely negate the responsibility of the individual, however I still disagree with the business practice. Most people who just waltz into supplement stores have no idea that steroids can be sold OTC. "If steroids are illegal, and this product is legal, then this product is not steroids" is the logic I imagine is used. It's one thing to sell someone sugar and tell them they will gain muscle if they take it, selling someone a testosterone booster and actually giving them steroids is far more unethical in my mind.

Also we as a community must recognize that it's these kind of shady business practices that result in substances getting banned/scheduled. I don't take prohormones myself, but I don't think they should be illegal. Stores like this are a problem for everyone.

wow.

yeah but even a supplement should be researched. this is just like going in to buy a car and trusting the car salesman.

i know what is going on here, i've seen the videos on youtube of teens buying these supps and then getting gyno and then whining how they didn't know. bottom line is they wanted something strong to give then a short cut and they hopefully learned a harsh lesson.

yes its unethical but that is what our country is all about i guess. its capitalism at its finest.. make the sale and scoop up the commission selling a teen something you don't even know yourself what you are selling. its fucked up, its not right. however thats how it goes in our country. atleast when you buy a lemon car you have 30 days to bring it back, with this you can end up with gyno and there isn't any taking it back lol..

i actually think if you told a teen that there was a chance their HPTA would get damaged or gyno or whatever they would STILL buy these designer hormones anyway. they just don't have the knowledge or discipline yet to say no i don't want this strong shit i will take the fadogia supplement instead. i know this cause i used to judge high school weightlifting and these kids are obsessed with gaining any kind of edge they can.

I think if you told a kid "this product will help you gain muscle fast, but it might also cause you to grow breasts" this would ward off some users, or at least make them realize that it's a serious compound they are dealing with. Now would it ward off the hard core competitive lifters? I doubt it, but I imagine (or hope) that those who are hard core into lifting would know more about the available supps, however I realize that's not always the case.
