i have 5 words to describe the weekend "I'm glad to be home"

i had a good time and it was really cool to see some freinds, like mule, flapwrlftr (btw, dont talk trash to him, its not worth that ensuing harrasment) bill crawford, and everyone else. it was great to watch my training partners do well too. there was alot of great lifting, probably most notably Gene Rychlaks 900lb Bench Press

Mule did well too, he squatted what seemed to be a very easy 1015, and even took 1115. he also benched 750 and totaled 2405. it was great to lift on the same platform as these two people, among the other great lifters, like two one of my training parters Josh Guthridge and Mike ruggeria. Joe bayles, JL holdsworth, and zech cole, and nate johnston, and chicken hawk(whats that guys real name, lmao) had great weekends too.

as for me, i weighed in saturday at 457 lbs (not a typo). this is almost 30 lbs heavier than my meet in august. it sure didnt help my sleep any, lol. flapwrlftr made it a point to make fun of me and my "breathe right strips" i was wearing pretty much all weekend, lmao, its ok flapwrlftr, just like you said "you may be stronger than me, but youll never talk better than me" i can live with that ;)

on to the lifts

total 2165, a 65lb PR

on my first squat attempt i tweaked my lower back, i have been dealing with this for about ten weeks, and seemed to have it under control until i unracked the weight, then it felt like something moved, and for the rest of the day my right side of my back down by the hip felt like it was jammed together. you cant tell really well but i had a terrible time sitting back and keeping a solid arch(very evident in the 875 clip).

on my bench, everything was light it felt great, and i know i had more in me. on my opener, i made the mistake of dumping the bar too much to get it to touch, my right arm drifted and i was in NO position to bench anything without tearing something so i let them take it. on my 2nd attempt i set up better, and the weight was easy, at the bottom of the lift the right armpit actually blew out on the inside of the shirt, lol, if i werent wearing a karins shirt, i may have gotten hurt imho. then i went to 615 for my third, it got off my chest great and started to tilt to the right so i had to steer it a little and locked it out. this is what i like better about the metal militia style bench, i beleive with your feet tucked under you, you can steer the bar alot more efficiently than if your feet were out and up like i used to do, plus the arch is cut down on my ROM tremendously.

on my pulls, after taking about 2 grams of ibuprofen and dumping half a bottle of horse liniment on my lower back, stretching, having people walk on my back, i was ready to pull. 640 was very light and easy. i went to 700 becuase that is one of the goals i had for myself for 2003, thankfully all the goals i thought about back in 2002 that i wanted to hit for 2003 i did :D. 700 went up, but the lockout was a fight. i went to 735 on my third becuase on the off chance that i squeezed it out that would have given me a 2200 total. i pulled it off the floor but ran out of gas.

this was my first time lifting with the Big Guys instead of the teenage class, i could have gone teenage again, but its best for my to get used to the atmosphere of lifting with the guys who are putting up big lifts, and i loved every second of it, its very motivating to see someone like mike ruggeria squat 950 like its was just the bar, and hear the crowd go crazy becuase of how fast it was, its like it jumped off his back, seriously. or seeing mule squat 1015, and try 1115, seeing my buddy josh squat a very easy 800. lol, benching 615 feels alot easier after you just saw a guy bench 900 freaking pounds, simply amazing.

the ride to and fro were pretty interesting, on the way there i managed average about 85 mph, no cops in sight the whole way down. the way back about an hour and a half from home, my van decided to break down, one of the bearings decided to go apeshit and i almost lost a wheel. being stranded for hours with only PB and J, a slightly injured back, and being in the middle of nowhere sucks. so glad to be home. also through trial and error( a fancy way to say "getting lost") i managed to learn how to get around harrisburg fairly well. and DBcooper, i found the place to buy the beer at when the meets over, next time we are in that place, ill show you the "beer centre", its a whole store of nothing but beer, lmao.

That's absolutely awesome. Congratulations :) What's your squat PR?

And I thought I couldn't get any more motivated for my first meet, lol.

Amazing job man. Sorry about your back. Hope it feels better.

I can't get any of the vids to play, but my computer is really dumb so maybe the problem's on my end.

Congrats man!! Huge numbers!

I can't download the vids. Probably cause I'm at work. Can't wait to see them, though.

Congrats again, man.:)

I am not even sure what to say. You are insane. Excellent work bro! I hope to see you benching 900 someday.

I think he's been Elite for some time, LS. Unless you meant it as an adjective and not a class.

Congrats, liftbig!
