Inviting a cop into home???

There is a plain sight exception to the search and seizure rules. If it is in plain sight it is admissable whether or not there was a search warrant or probable cause. So, just don't leave shit in plain sight.

Here is a pretty funny actual case that we studied in law school.

The cops are chasing some guy who commited some petty crime through a neighborhood and the guy runs through the door of a strangers house. The stranger and a few of his accomplices were in the process of cutting, weighing and packaging several kilos of cocaine. The cops apply the brakes and let the petty criminal go when they see all that coke. Serendipity for the cops!

Is the evidence admissible? Yep. There is a hot pursuit exception to the search and seizure rules so they are okay chasing the petty criminal. Then there is the plain sight exception, too. So they are okay on the admissability of the evidence at the crime scene.

The reading comprehnsion at EF never ceases to amaze me.

I don't think that anyone that posted showed that they understood the original post. A post that said this was about high tech bi-lingual telephone harassment.

Which begs a question. Do people hang here becuase they simply can't communicate effectively in the real world? So...they come here and engage in incoherent jibber jabber.

Inviting a cop into your home to investigate a party that is engaging in disruption of vital sleep....is pretty well a no brainer.

If a criminal is trying to ruin your life we do have authorities to look into the matter....if you are lucky. Why not tkae advantage?

If I was using high tech telephone harassment, I might be discouraged if I found that law enforcement was investigating it. What else are going to do about it?

But I forget, very few here bother to actually read a post before jumping to conclusions.

I read your shit dude,
Not inferring you are a racist, but I still for some reason find humor in the "bilingual ladys" lack of relevance to the Rights infringement point of the post.

Couple nights a go, I got victimized by some high tech phone abuse.

A computer called every 100 minutes or so and delivered extremely lenghty messages designed to mess with you. They had blank spaces and alternated between spanish and english. When you picked up the phone, it got disconnected. Started at 12:30 am and went to 9:00 am.

Clearly designed to disrupt sleep.

I called the police...I was pretty irritated.

They sent a bilingual lady out.

There was one thing that I found very interesting. She was extremely interested in looking at my possessions in a clinical manner. The phone calls were treated as "a mistake."

Think twice about letting a cop into your house. Thats the lesson I learned. She seemed more interested in finding something to bust me than in the high tech telephone abuse.

I'm the farthest from a racist that one will likely find.

I got what you meant. I was just prattling on about search and seizure rules. You have to ignore ex-lawyers on too much caffeine. ;-)
