Interviewing for a job??? Catch 22 questions

AAP

Questions that are asked in interviews that are often Catch 22 types.

(let's see how you would respond)

1 - What are your weaknesses? (you have to say something or else it comes across as untruthful and defensive)

2 - Why do you want to work here? (saying my ass needs a job isn't a good answer)

3 - Why would you be the best candidate for us? (don't tell them you plan to kill everyone that applies)

4 - What are your long term goals? (mainly because most people apply for lower jobs to get their foot in the door and then move up. Most companies do NOT like this because then they have to fill the position all over again. They want someone to come in and be content with the minimal job they are offering.)

5 - What did you dislike about your last job? (saying your boss is a killer.)

Worst interview questions ever.

Shows that the interviewer either doesn't take the process seriously, or is just a complete moron.

Send me some K.

And answer the fucking questions.

bitch.

These are questions that are basically asked to swing you in favorable consideration if you are not already there. Sort of last-pitch-to-save yourself type.

I always get these, and I've realized that I've got to come up with a good lie. Telling the truth isn't the best thing in an interview.

The 1 time I worked in retail... I was asked those questions in the interview, I went into the interview not giving a shit about the job, didn't really want it. Some friends worked there... and I got the job anyway. What a shit hole that was, the store wasn't there 3 years later, I think my "friends" had something to do with that :worried:

lol

2 - Why do you want to work here? (saying my ass needs a job isn't a good answer) do some research about them know about the company tel him all you know about them and say that is why.

3 - Why would you be the best candidate for us? (don't tell them you plan to kill everyone that applies)sell your self you should always have a mentel list of
your best qualities/achievements/abilities.be able to speak loud clear and with

1 - What are your weaknesses? I have a tendency to be too much of a perfectionist, I stress myself out by getting too focused on the details that sometimes aren't as important as the big picture.

2 - Why do you want to work here? I really like the atmosphere of the company, everything I've seen so far seems like such a terrific fit for my personality.

3 - Why would you be the best candidate for us? I really care about the company I come to work for, I develop a very strong sense of loyalty and devotion to any organization that considers me their own, I guess it's a holdover from when I was in the military.

4 - What are your long term goals? I just want to be happy in the job I'm doing, I want to feel like I'm making a positive contribution to the organization; I like to feel like I have a reason to get up in the morning.

5 - What did you dislike about your last job? We would get critical, highly time sensitive assignments, crazy pressure, it needs to be done yesterday. I don't mind working under pressure, but the environment it would create in the office, some of my coworkers don't handle stress very well, they would unintentionally take it out on everyone else. You know where the aggrivation is coming from but that doesn't make it easier to deal with.

You're answer to #1 always put me off when I was interviewing people. It sounds too contrived and a little like bragging.

Not a good answer to #5, because if you really loved the job you'd still be there. You have to say SOMETHING was wrong with it, even if you say "I loved everything about the job, but there was a definite ceiling from a financial point of view OR they didn't offer benefits OR I knew they were about to start downsizing." You have to have a reason for wanting to move on.

Based on the answers you gave, dear, I would put down that I find your honesty questionable, seriously.

But, bear in mind, we work in different industries. You're in the service industry and I was in executive administration (I was the secretary/personal assistant to the owner of three different companies). There actually IS a different ... standard. If I was looking to hire a chef/cook, knowing how hard the job is and the type of ego involved, maybe someone who's a bit OCD and a braggart would be exactly what I want.

first off, number 4 is total BS....most companies promote from within, so, uh, they're looking for someone with at elast some ambition.

and the perfectionist/workaholic answer is a transparent bullshit answer...if someone answered my question with that, I'd be like, no, really...what are your weaknesses.

What are your weaknesses is such a bullshit question and a very weak one from a supposedly decent company.

The hardest interview I ever had was in high school for my ROTC scholarship.
They asked situational questions and how you would react to certain things.
How you would apply leadership principles.
Exlain the last time you did so etc.

well, if they give you a bullshit answer, then you know they are a bullshitter :)

This is easy:

1 - What are your weaknesses? (you have to say something or else it comes across as untruthful and defensive)

Sometimes I move so fast that people have a tough time keeping up. To mitigate this I always provide regular status and have meetings as appropriate to make sure my team always stays on the same page.

2 - Why do you want to work here? (saying my ass needs a job isn't a good answer)

This company is one of the leaders in its field. It is a place that I think will provide a lot of professional growth for me. My skill set will directly increase sharehold value, and the company offers some of the best benefits around.

3 - Why would you be the best candidate for us? (don't tell them you plan to kill everyone that applies)

I believe my experience and constant proven execution make me the best candidate. I'm a great skills match and can bring some strategic planning to the role as well.

4 - What are your long term goals? (mainly because most people apply for lower jobs to get their foot in the door and then move up. Most companies do NOT like this because then they have to fill the position all over again. They want someone to come in and be content with the minimal job they are offering.)

I love to continually be learning on the job. I want to make this position one of the most valued in the company. I see myself as a seasoned veteran in the field, a guru or expert even. I can manage people and projects as needed, but do not require either to be satisfied in my role.

5 - What did you dislike about your last job? (saying your boss is a killer.)

Working with such a diverse company, it was tough to keep people on the same page. This was something that could be frustrating, but working through those challenges ultimately refined my communication and team work skills, both of which will be a huge asset to me in this new role here.

lmao i was just fucking around look at you go.

Why would giving a bullshit answer to a bullshit question count against you?

I don't think it's a bullshit question

I think it's more of a question where what they are looking for is how you attempt to answer it

1- Hot Bitches and Cold 40oz bottles of Malt liquor.
2- Because you are hiring and there is not a single camera in this whole place. I seen some big booty bitches walking around here too...
3- Because I get respect around this town. Me working here will keep the bad elements in the neighborhood from beating and robbing you... You know, on one of those night when you work late well past closing time and have to walk in the dark the 150yrds to get into that tan Ford Taurus with the "Jets" bumper sticker.
4- Going triple Platinum and doing a collabo with Jay-Z... I want to have Timbaland produce a couple of my tracks too. Might have to wait till the second album, them niggaz charge too much.
5- The manager had a big mouth and was always disrespecting me. He use to be like "Rick, you are 15 minutes late, please try to be on time" Then he would say something smart like "If you are going to be late, please call so I can have somebody cover until you get here"...

It leaves too much open to interpretation and practice. Being a listed as a commonly asked question on job interview sites makes it all the more useless.

Cite a past example of a situation at work for which you did not have an immediate solution or you could not resolve alone. How did you find a resolution and what was the final outcome?

You want to eliminate the bullshit factor? Ask for examples.

I dont really ask any of those questions when Im interviewing someone. I do a version of the #3 question, but I say "What qualities do you have that would make you a good candidate for this position?"
