Intermittent Fasting: Fact and Fiction

Excellent article and love the pubmed references to back it up. I don't preach - but someone at the gym has noticed my physique change and was asking what I was doing. I mentioned that I am trying IF and a PT overheard me and butted into our conversation and proceeded to tell me I know nothing of health and am wasting my time. Not that I really care - I won't argue with closed minded people - but its nice to have the research to back up the obvious results that IF brings.

kick ass article rick!more people need to look into this.It has worked wonders for many people

That was a great article, Rick. The broscience behind catabolism myths dealing with IF is still being slung around on the boards these days. Some guys just don't realize how much protein and meal digestion overlap there really is! Thanks for the writeup

no reason for people who use SARM's and AAS to believe that.

I don't buy into the you must get X amount of protein a day or your muscles shrink up myth either.

Rickrock, IF has been my gamechanger. Thank you for turning me on to it. In 6 weeks, I cut 20 pounds and lowered bf from 15% to 8-9%. And all lifts went up.

I agree bro... I dont take in a gram per lb and ive kept all my muscle mass. Maybe that is applicable to some body types but not mines

I've seen my mate/workout partner, who's 5'8 190 in single digits body fat, go without meat for weeks at a time, guys benching into the 400's and can DL 500+... Not intermittent fasting but it shows you do not need a ridiculous amount of protein.....

I don't try IM fasting myself because there are some days I need to take in a real shitload of calories so trying to do that in an 8hr window just doesn't seem practical in my case, I've noticed a lot of people seem to swear by it though...

I've found IF can be pretty flexible. On days I need more time for calories I will extend my feeding window but keep my 16 hours fast. For example instead of a 10am-6pm feed time, I might stretch it to 8pm to get enough protein. But the next day is cardio so I'll make my feeding window 12-6 when I don't need as much protein. I think as long as you can find a way to keep a 16 hr fast you can play with it.

As always great write up brother...you know how I faired on IF earlier this year, dropped to 9.4% bodyfat while incorporating it into my regimen...thanks to you!!!

Nice... this program is really great for me as well. I just need to focus in on eating more calories during my eight hour Window

Yeh a lot of guys over exaggerate protein consumption. 1-1.5g per pound is more than plenty. A 200lb guy should never have to go over 300g ED

What about me! I've lost almost 50 lbs on this diet. Give me my props damit!!!

50 lbs! Wow man. That's awesome. I'm glad its working well for you bro! IF is pretty powerful and it shows when you have dramatic results like yours. The diet is also a lot more lenient with food selection compared to other diets which makes it that much easier to adapt as a "lifestyle"

Im actually lookimg forward to running IF during a cycle and during my SARMS bridge.. I bet the results will be that much more exaggerated

Intermittent fasting is sooooooooo underrated. I've been doing it for the last 2 years or so and it helps with so many things including maintaining lean body mass, losing body fat, insulin sensitivity, recovery, asthma etc. And Hugh Jackman does it as part of his regimen for getting into shape as Wolverine he follows the 16-8 approach I believe. Hugh Jackman? More like Hugh Jacked-Man. Nice article, Rick, I wish more people knew about this simple approach to increasing fitness and general well-being.
