Intense bleedings with Alesse, help

Lady Godiva

I've been on the pill again for the last three months. Been prescribed Alesse but there's definitely a problem. Either it's me or the pill. Or both. My doctor said it was normal (up to four months). He told me to come back in a month if things were not improving. Then, he would prescribe me Marvelon 28 (?). Before I start freaking, anyone here experienced this before ? Is this a common problem with Alesse ? Should I ask for Marvelon 28 or stick with Alesse ?

Thank you !

I don't kow much about Alesse but I know that any birth control pill can give some women a lot of sides. Some of them make us supre moody, some of them make us bleed more-- it's hard to say what would work for you. On any pill spotting can happen for the first few months as your system adjusts.

But there are SO many pills out there. If you're not happy with what you're taking, find something that works better for you! There's no sense taking something with a lot of sides when there is probably a pill out there that will work better for you! I don't think there's a need to freak out. If you don't have a history of those kinds of problems associated with your period, I really doubt that it's you.

I just got off Orthocept 28 day, which I have taken many times w/ literally no sides. I know it sounds nuts, but, I have has nothing but good effects w/ this pill like short menstrual cycles, no cramping, no bloating, no breakouts & very little mood changes.

I will ask for Marvelon 28 as suggested by my doctor last time. I heard they were stronger. Obviously I have nothing to loose in this case :)

I forgot to mention that I'm on yasmin. I haven't had problems-- it also has a diuretic in it so I've not put on water weight like I have with other pills.

I've taken all different BC pills. Right now I'm on Yasmin. I love it. Extremely light periods and not as many days. I don't tend to get bad cramps or very moody, but I was the same on other pills.

I had a ton of bleeding problems with Alesse. No other side effects except for the non-stop period. I changed over to Ovcon 35 and am having the same problems so back to the Dr.

Alesse gave me no bleeding problems, but it made me pretty crazy...so I switched to Yasmin. I have been on it for a month now and really like it so far.
