"Insulin has decreased effects on fat metabolism even during the carb-up phase of the diet. In other words, if you keep the carbs fairly low on weekdays, the carbs you do get on the weekend won't have negative effects on you. "
Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale

What do you think of that ?

He -obviously- is right.

All the carbs will go to replenish the glycogen stores and the dietary fat will continue being used as an energy source.(if kept at low levels)

so,
a low carb diet during weekdays
- high carb / high protein diet during weekends
would be efficient
in gaining LBM (muscle but no fat) ?

Hm.. pressuming that you keep your protein intake moderate on the week days, then sure.Eitherway, too much protein will replenish the glycogen stores. Not so much but it would be better to keep protein ~1-1,5g./pound.

If you still want to keep your protein intake high during the weekdays,it would probably be better to eliminate the refeed duration to 1 day.(it always depend on your bodyfat levels)

OK, thanx

it is well known that you "either bulk or cut"
but I think it is possible to gain lean mass without (much) fat

and a
low carb - moderate prot - moderate fat diet during weekdays
+
high carb - high prot - moderate fat diet during weekends
may be a solution

go to www.metabolicdiet.com and you can get Mauro's whole approach to dieting. I have the Metabolic Diet and Anabolic Diet and haven't had success with eather. I don't do well on high fat and a 2 day carb load is too much, although he does suggest a 12 hour load if this is too much. So it really is an individual thing, and a carb load and it's subsequent stimulation of insulin will have an effect on metabolism if one is more insulin resistant, in their muscles. If one routinely follows a low carb diet and is sensitive to insulin, their muscles remain sensitive and most of the carbs will be stored in muscles and glycogen. So he is right, but he realizes that its individual and if done for too long, a carb load will cause fat deposition. Either way a low carb diet followed by carb load meals seems the best and most effecient way to increase muscle mass w/out fat mass.

dr dipasquale is correct-the only problem with his diet is that you can't truly get huge on it because you'll be weak alot of the time due to low carbs
