Installing third hard drive???

My main hard drive got so full that the computer would not boot up.

Not knowing the problem, I took the computer in. I also removed the slave hard drive because it was basically dangling by its wires. A mistake.

Now I want to reinstall the slave hard drive due to all the data and programs.

This will give me three hard drives.

Is this easy?

depends on your mainboard & power supply.
if you have spare ATA/IDE ports open. Also, you need to power it, you might be fresh out of plugs from the power supply.
you could get a USB HDD.

if you're set on going internal, and have a dock slot for this ( I assume it's ATX FF)
and you don't have extra IDE/ATA/RAID connects, you could get a PCI peripheral bus controller for extra HDD hookups.

My old 120gb in an internal so staying that way would be convenient.

The card idea is prolly the winner since I seem to be out of IDE connects.

I wonder if I could put it in an external case and use USB 2 or firewire?

if it's doable nowadays, I don't know how...

I have a Buslink external sitting here but will wait for some advice before tearing it apart.

The construction does not really promote do it your selfers tearing into it.

There are one piece external hard drives that are USB, Firewire is *mostly* a MAC thing and they are even dropping it from some of the Ipods. You can buy a case for an external drive for about $60. That's probably your best bet.

Thanks...cases are found on ebay for almost nothing right now. Shipping was $10. I am happy right now.

Say....DT....I kept my best stuff on my desk top with the old hard drive arrangement. Can't seem to find those files anymore. Ideas?

They'll surely come back when you connect the drive again, but the drive letter might change so you might get an error. The best thing is if you know one of the filenames just search for it in Explorer...even a partial name search like *boobs*

Also...why the hell did a 60gb hard drive get filled up with only 20gb of programs and stuff on it?
