Inositol!

After reading the boards for over a month I thought I'd chime in with my experience with Inositol. I've read all the post by GaryWary on Inositol and figured it was worth a shot seeing that I've tried alot of other stuff for anxiety and panic. I used to have full blown panic attacks about ten years ago in highschool, but they got less intense as I've gotten older. But stress and work will tend to bring out the anxiety and panic at the most inopportune times and start the vicious cycle of worrying about panic attacks which leads to having panic attacks. Well, a few hours after taking 3g I do feel a lot calmer. I'm not saying this is a cure, but it does seem to be working! I'm pretty excited because I've tried alot of different herbs and vitamins with no results, so I was not really expecting anything from the Inositol. Hopefully when I up the dosage to 6g I will feel even better. 200mg of kavalactones (from Kava Kava) also seems to help.:D

I knew it would help someone else. Partial help or Full-help (like it did with me) is good. Brings a tear to my eye (seriously)..

kava is the shit. we drank that a few weekends ago and felt pretty good. my body felt all rubbery. i get good shit off the north shore that is potent. anyway, kava is the shiznitz

There is some research showing that inositol may help with some psychiatric problems, especially anxiety. Many of the meds, such as lithium, are thought to work through phosphatidylinositol pathways, so the idea is to precursor load with inositol.

There is another isomer of inositol called pinitol, which has been shown to have hypoglycemic activity. I have not looked to see if this version has any activity on anxiety.

after reading garywary's posts regarding inositol, i decided to give it a shot for anxiety - i am taking 12g daily of the powdered form. one problem though - i get the runs a couple hours after i take it - is 12g too much to take at once? too early to judge, but i seem to be a little more relaxed today.

anyone know where to get the powdered form cheap in bulk? i paid like $18 for 4 ounces (Soloray) - this is enough to last like 10 days at 12g/day - shit gets expensive.

You can get it at http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/ns/ino.html . It's really inexpensive there. Inositol rocks! I wish I knew about this 10 years ago. Thanks GaryWary for bringing this information to my attention. I don't think I would have found it anywhere else. :D

You might want to spread out the dosage throughout the day when taking 12g. Take 3g every 3-4 hours and see if that helps.

The pre-cursor to inositol is inositol hexphosphate (IP6). IP6 is reckoned to be the most powerful anti-cancer nutrient known to man. Inositol is the wonder vitamin.

I shall look into pinitol.. I am interested in finding out more.

Hey fellow Inositol Users......

I currently began taking 8 grams of powdered Inositol and I cant believe how good its calmed me down in the first couple of days. I had one simple question to ask: Has Inositol usage caused any of you to gain any fat or retain water in any way??? I ask this because I have a history of taking Prozac (around 3 yrs ago) and it made me gain around 10 pds of fat (dunno why, i trained and ate the same) Contest is comin up in a couple of months and i would hate to gain any fat or retain water because of this. Can anybody with experience with Inositol please chime in on this??
