Injury Setback

So last Monday morning I wake up unable to get out of bed because my lower back was so stiff and sore. Got more painful each day with moving my head, coughing, talking and the worst - sneezing becoming alomost unbearable.

By thursday got to the doc (first day out of bed) - said that I strained/tore my spinal erector and that it was in intense spasms. Prescribed me Flexiril (muscle relaxer), Lodine (NSAI) and Vicodin (haven't taken any). Since being on the meds, I feel better each day with intermittent spasms and some stiffness. (Touching my chin to my chest is still agony).

Anyway, she told me minimum 4 weeks out of the gym. Are you kidding me? It has been a week and I can feel the softness settling in already. Has anyone experienced a similar injury? Am I really looking at 4-6 weeks of no physical activity?

Thanks

you should definitely take it easy for 4 weeks. I know it is really hard to do...but think long term here...let the muscles heal completely so you know you wont hvae any problems later. How did you get this injury? You can still do some low intensity cardio so you dont get too soft...but lifting will for sure strain those muscles
