I am 18 yrs old, 6'2", 215 lbs., Approx. 10% bf. been lifting for 5 yrs, 2 yrs intense. Last summer i strained my lower back at football camp. I havn't been able to squat or work out lower body since. I am wondering if there is anything that would help with my recovery as it still pains me. I have done p.t., chiro, and acupuncture. Please help

Depends on what you did. YOu should have your doc check it out and see if a disk is herniated or deteriorating, or what have you. I have 3 disks gone in my lower back, so I have been around this block for almost 20 years now and still no surgery to date. If you know what's wrong I can let ya know what I have done for that particular injury. I will tell you that for most swelling in lower back ESI's are a god send. Epidural Steriodal Injections. Doc injects 5cc of steroids direclty into your spine, next day you feel good as new and can last a very long time between injections.

It's a thoraciclumbar strain/pull, possible tendon damage, but they can't tell without an mri, and that costs too much

Well get the MRI if at all possible. Stretch your hamstrings 2-3 times daily to keep lower back loose. Anti-inflamatory meds, message therapy and rest.

No insurance? Use a friends or a brother if you have one.

I started drinking this mangosteen juice that really helped with the inflamation and i feel hurry along my recovery. I was able to run track and am now back on a full workout schedule

follow the docs advice. then slowly get back into it.(hopefully you wont loose scholoship because of that). The doc did not go to school forever for no reason. and yes, im pre med :)
