injury during cycle...

Recruit

New member
I was benching today and when I started my started up with the weight I felt a sharp pain where the pec attaches to the bicept. Afterward I couldn't lift 135lbs. without feeling the sharp pain. I went home and iced the pec and took ibuprofen. There is no bruise or discoloration.

Anyone know how long it takes to heal from an injury like this? Also, I'm starting the fourth week of my cycle, should I continue or start pct and wait till the pec heals.

I wouldn't rule out tearing, it takes a little while for it to work itself out to where you can visibly see it.

i know my buddy bruised very badly after partially tearing his hamstring
i would stretch and rehab it with light weights until you feel your strong enough to work it out more intensly

I've been lifting heavy for the last 4 months so it's probably time to give my tendons and joints a break anyway...

After I tore my pec i never touched flat bench again.

Do you still do incline?

Yes, incline, & i still do flat DB. The more you read youll see alot of pros arent even doing flat bench anymore cause it over-exaggerates the delts so much makeing you suceptible to pec tears especially once you start throwing some serious iron around. It sounds like you may have a partial tear. I reccomend you see a orthopedic surgeon & request a MRI, the longer you wait, the harder it is to repair the ruptured tendon, that is if you did rupture anything.

Could be torn - hard to tell but if it is I would stretch it . . . again and again and again. You don't want the scar tissue to be so tight (when it heals) that it you have less flexability and a good chance of reinjury. And lay off the gym until it really feals better - this is a MUST.

Pec Tears look nasty. Some guys have black and blue swollen pecs.

What is your form like doing flat DB press? I would think they would aggravate your chest more then barbells since the range of motion is much greater with a dumbell. Do you do neutral grip dumbell presses? I guess the closer you keep the dumbells in towards your torso , the less stress on the shoulder , but I would think that would also hinder the chest workouts

Anyway I've always believed in working up with wide grip benching. Once you can do it without pain or pressure then you should be good to go.

Area is a little sore but there is no bruising. I think I got lucky. I am definetly going to take it easy for a few weeks.

My plan was to start deca 400mg ew week starting Mon. Is there a chance that it will aid in the healing process? I am currently running test-cyp @ 500 ew also.

consider it a not so friendly warning sign

your body is telling you iare vulnerable in that plane of motion and if you used a heavier weight it would have been an issue
