Ingrown Hair

Got an ingrown hair on my chest... any ideas how to get it to go away... it's been there for over 6 months.

i have no idea what an ingrown hair is but i had to do some research for school and you can fix it with laser treatment.

Sterilize (heat it) a needle and fish the hair out. Think of it as the same as a splinter. Your body is reacting to the ingrown hair as if it was a foreign object, once you remove the object the region will heal very quickly (within a few days).

That's good advice. You dont need a doctor to remove an ingrown hair. At least I hope not.

depending on how thick your hair is and how deep it has grown, a doctor might be recommened... after 6 months??? there was a guy i worked with (black guy) had ingrowns on his head that he left for awhile (actually think it was a couple years) and needed to go into day surgery to have them extracted... the were the size of marbles, big ones... looked like he had knuckes growing out the back of his neck... not a pretty sight...

plus there is a chance that it has caused an infection under the skin and a dose of antibiotics may be needed... it's really imposible to know without seeing it (NO I DONT WANT A PIC THANKS VERY MUCH )

yup, you would've thunk!

point here is, if you can't clear it up yourself (standard pin removal technique, and i'm assuming after 6 months, you may have already tried that)... you should get it looked at by a doc... its not a medical emergancy, but leave it for long enough and it could become a problem...

My buddy thought he had an ingrown hair on his nut sack - until it burst and puss shot out in his drawers. Turned out to be a boil and had to be lanced. He had to spend about two weeks with the damn thing packed with gauze and his legs spread. Ugly shit.

I suggest trying an injection needle. Since your a member of this site, you should have em sitting around! Those lil' bastards are sharp and you'll pick that bad ol' hair out in seconds. Just don't be a puss and deal with the pain. If it's in too deep, listen to these other people and see a doctor.

exactly what it sounds like. A hair grows just under the skin instead of growing out and becomes infected like a splinter.

It is also my understanding that your body cannot break down your own hair. So it just keeps growing and irritating the area.

as a cosmotologist i know alot about this problem and there is a solution(finally!)..its called tendskin its a soultion u put on ur existing ingrown hairs and it disappears within 24-48 hrs depending on how band the ingrown hair is..this also works to prevent future ingrown hairs and also after u shave and dry ur face or wherever put it on w/a cotton ball and u dont get that stinging feeling nor razor burn..this stuff works great i use it all the time..u can buy it at www.tendskin.com

ok here is my final answer...............

ok bro listen up good-- u probably shave your chest with a razor? right?bad move!!! you got 2 choices that will prevent ingrown hairs 95% better than shaving! the 1st is lazerhair removal -but d not do it when your skin is tan or you will get burned baddddddddd!keep in mind the hair does grow back, but much slower now here is my favorite that solved my problem- its called EPILLETTE from sally hansen. its like a little handle with sandpaper on it and u just rub your skin with it in a counter clockwise motion. the hair comes off easily and painless- do this once a week , you get about 5 pads for 6$.i guess it works great because it exfoliates your skin. also use a stridex pad 2 times daily on your chest to keep it clean! finally, remember you wanna prevent this shit from happening again not just treat new ingrowns!! i know this will work good for you try it!!i wish i had someone tell me this info when i was up to my neck in shit!! best wishes, spoofer johnston
