Inglourious Basterds surprised me

Much different than expected (slower, methodical). Better than expected (misleading trailer). What makes the movie work is Tarrantino framed it as a "fairy tale" right from the beginning. Dialog is probably the best he's ever done considering it's carried out in 3-4 different languages throughout the movie. And surprisingly it wasn't even close to the Kill Bill level of violence. And how the story is bookended is pretty classic. The strangest thing about it was I could've sworn I heard at least two music tracks in there ripped straight from Kill Bill 1 & 2 lol.

Might be a good one to pick up on sale if the Bluray has any good extras.

Yeah haven't seen it yet but I want to. Wife isn't really interested in watching it though so I'll have to find the time somewhere.

Between my Amazon OnDemand, Netflix OnDemand and Fios OnDemand I think its available on one of them.

I still think the tavern scene is the best. Brilliant acting, writing, and directing all around. You could hear the air get sucked out of the theater when the Nazi gave the english dude that look once he ordered three glasses.

Yeah I agree with that scene being the best. The characters' personalities were pretty authentic for the most part, and it greatly added to the tension.

Despite Brad being in the tabloids as much as he is and always People Mags sexiest people, I've always thought we was a great actor. Snatch is what made me love him.

lol I figured you'd be in here. No actually I was impressed the Nazis weren't written in as bumbling idiots, but instead surprisingly well represented in their attributes the Germans were known for. More human than monsters that so many other movies make them out to be. They even got drunk lol. Hitler I think was portrayed a little over dramatically though in his first scene (but it was funny...."Beeaaarr Judenen" lmao), and Landa I have no idea but he seemed kinda goofy here and there. Not sure how accurate the soldiers smoking cigs were. That was a big no-no, at least in the SS. Although I'm sure a lot of them did as long as they didn't get caught.

Rest assured though if I was Jewish this would go from being merely a cool, entertaining one to a very personal favorite.

yeah i thought this movie was gonna be a blood and guts kill bill sorta film (never could make it through the first kill bill meh)...def surprized.
great flick and when the movie theater owner's recording is playing in the smoke it's haunting

Hes no Amon Goeth but that main nazi guy was what made the film.
