Incline Bench More than Flat?

Just wondering if anyone else can Incline press more than Flat press using BB and DB's?

Also, what's the reason behind it?

I wish I could. However most individuals leverage attachements and body structures don't cater to benching more on the incline. I'd estimate maybe 5% of people press more on the incline (all things equal).

But you should stress inclines over flat bench (usually)

Everyone knows it's the best way to isolate the upper chest. I like to superset it with cable crossovers to target the inner pecs.

Thank God my sarcasm detector is working at its finest today.

I can incline DB more then i can flat DB press. but i can flat bb bench more then i can incline bb bench, kinda weird.

Id guess that you have weak lats. Can you row what you bench, give or take? what numbers are you benching & inclining? are you a 250lb 30 year old or a 17 year old HS kid maxing out with the big 55's?

That would make sense....

I only BB Row 115 4x, 6-8.

I do 4x sets, 6-8 reps with 70lb DB's on the Incline.

Right now I'm 5'9, 165lbs.

Prioritize upper back work, there's plenty of articles at elitefts.com if you have time to read them about the importance of strong lats in the bench.

And eat. Lots and lots. :)

Will do, thanks.

Just started focusing on squats/deads (no smith machine BS, no pads or anything) and over the past few weeks definitely noticed improvement on just about all of my upper body lifts. I am just trying to be as proportioned as possible. I'm not all that big but I definitely have plenty of time to get there (I'm 20, been lifting seriously for just over 1 year). I think I've got some decent genetics to go off of also.

As for my avatar.... it was taken 4.5 months ago, definitely a lot of improvements since then. Quit drinking 3 months ago too.

Bench twice a week. 1 workout focus on flat, other work out incline.

Upper chest makes your whole upper body fill out.

Simple Supersets will get you a great upper chest..

I do 1x5 Incline Wide BB Bench
then with no rest 1x10 Incline DB Bench

do this for 3-4sets and your chest will be shot....

after a month or so change the incline wide bb bench to 3x8reps.. for a month

You can even replace Incline DB's with Incline Flys.. Once in a while.

I can do more weight on the Flat but it hurts my shoulder. I do incline for reps at 315 and it feels better than flat at 365. In my opinion Flat should be done with moderate weight to round out the routine after heavy inclines and flyes. Dont fall victim to the "how much you bench" team. It what you look like - the mirror doesn't lie.

i couldnt tell u the last time i did barbell bench work... i have always like inc db's and the shape and strength they have given my shoulders and chest in general

could anyone give me an idea of what I would be able to bb press all things being equal?
I do 100# db's for 6 full reps no spot bench at around 30degrees

thanks

My incline press with db's are 20 pounds more than my flat db bench. I am not too flexible, and when laying flat I can not get the dumbells all the way down without the feeling my muscles are going to tear. I can't even scratch my back.
