In-situ removal of benzyl alcohol.

I really wish someone would try this...

I've tried this method before bro with Testonon. The 3 liquids mix after shaking & will NOT separte(at least w/o letting it sit for a day or so). Funny thing though, it did take away the pain 100%.

Benzyl alcohol does have some solubility in water (1g in 25mL), but it is still more soluble in oil. I would say that you would remove a minor amount of benzyl alcohol, but no where near all of it, especially from one extraction only.

The water will take out all the BA it can hold. BA and oil ARE NOT attracted to each other. Water and BA are.

Yeah that's the thing.. You have to let it sit.. Or you can just add more water.

If you used a super dilute NaOH solution, you could easily take out all the BA with 1ml.. The layers will separate much faster too.

But, again, at NO point do you heat it. Then you can have things happen like ester hydrolysis.. This is not a problem if heat is avoided.

I'm still confused

it would seem that the hormone would be bound to the BA, not the oil. Lose the BA with the water lose the hormone. Why would the hormone lose it's affinity for the BA and stay in the oil??
