Supposing a container once contained substance A, and then later on for a period of time contained substance B. Suppose this container was analyzed for residue, what is the likelihood that substance A would show up on the scan...

If anyone could be of advice in such matters, please e-mail me and we can talk more specifically...

Without knowing what both substance A and B were, that would be very difficult to answer. If substance A were soluable in substance B the I doubt very seriously that substance A would show up. It would also have to do with the type of test. Many different analytical methods can achieve different levels, ie. ppm to ppt range based on the machine used.
