Import/Export Transactions

I am looking into an import/export industry and wanted to ask some questions here from people who are informed or have knowledge in this industry.

Let's say I want to do business with some company in China. I agreed to purchase their product and worked out payment terms but still have doubts about them being legit.

They have product, I have money and going to send money by international wire transfer and then have them ship the product once wire transfer is complete. This is very risky and easy to get scammed.

What would be the best way to do this ? Are there companies that handle the money/product exchange between my company in USA and overseas companies to make sure the buyer received promised product and seller receives money.

The best way to do this is to go to China and meet with them yourself.

There are US owned companies located in Hong Kong that help facilitate US/China deals.

Not sure what you want to import, but like the posts above, always meet the people you are dealing with.

I am looking into various consumer electronics and talking to several companies in Indonesia. Most have been not legit so far.

Too many scammers out there.
