Implications of using credit card before bankruptcy

Well we decided to have my fiance' file. Meanwhile there is a lot of stuff we need and was wondering if we charge a bunch of stuff on our Home Depot card, will that not look good?. For instance, our neighbor lives like trash and his fence is basically rotting apart. I asked the homeowner assoc guy and he said that it was technically my neighbors fence. Now I know these people odn't have th emoney to go in half with us, I wanted to buy the fencing and put one up. Another reason we need to replace the fence is b/c thier pitbull has broken the bottom of the fence and has ended up in our yard a few times now. Plus we have some patchwork from a busted plumbing line that needs to be fixed. This isn't some shopping spree just things that we really need but don't have the money to buy.

Bad idea, bro... judges are not stupid. When they see you pulling the "max out the credit card" stunt... then filing bankruptcy - they refuse to cancel the debt.

Many people have tried your plan only to have it fully backfire.

If it is within your normal spending habits and you have not seen a lawyer yet it is no big deal. Racking them up on Monday and seeing a lawyer on Tuesday may raise an eyebrow.

Creditors rarely contest a bankruptcy because they are dealing with hundreds at a time. It’s not worth it for them to chase someone for a few grand. If you do something stupid that makes you stand out, they may claim fraud and hold a legal gun to your head. Pay or go to criminal court. If you are legit then you can tell them to stick it in their asses. If you scammed and made it obvious then you have something to worry about.
