Why do men get homophobic?

The fear of gays tends to stem from the fear that a gay person will make a pass. Well what's so scary about that? The guy hits on you, once you realize what's going on you say either "I'm not gay," or "I'm not interested." What's frightening about it? I think it's actually kind of flattering.

But to some men, gay guys coming on to them makes them wonder, "Oh no, do I give GAY vibes? Do people perceive me as GAY? Well, let's act over-the-top macho JUST SO people will know I'm not gay. That includes hating and fearing gays."

Well guess what: that's behavior stems from deep insecurity. If homophobes were truly secure in their masculinity would they go through such lengths to avoid anything associated with gay? Hell no.

So to anyone who's homophobic: chill out. You don't have to hate gays to come off as manly. In fact, the true manly and secure thing to do is accept the existence of gays and their lifestyle. What, the thought of gay sex makes you uncomfortable? Too fucking bad. Black people used to make whites feel uncomfortable. Whites would go through great lengths to segregate away blacks and keep them down. Well... after the government forced the issue everyone got over it. It's high time we as a society GET OVER homosexuality.
