im thinking about getting a 66 impala

Burnboy

New member
keystone wheels, convertible, 2 door, original engine and transmission, 327 runs good, interior needs some work and has rust on one door panel and rear fender, 101 thousand miles, hes only asking 5500, im sure if i offered 5000 cash hed let it go.

Cool car. I have a 62 4 door. I like the 62's and 63's, 58's and 59s the best. They're all cool as hell. If you put a 200R4 in it, you can get good take off and great mileage from the 4th gear. The trans is from a Monte SS.

I used to have a 68 Impala. It was a white 2 door fastback w/a 307 engine. I loved that car. I would get it if I were you.

Just hit me dude, you can do better if you're willing to travel for rust free. I'd offer the guy 3500 cash and point out the rust and interior. The interior could be expensive and the 101k means the suspension might need to be worked on. Check out a swapper from Georgia. Maybe pm dballer

how much would it cost to replace the door panel and the back fender?
id really like a 4 door.
theres not that many cars around here, my sis is looking for me in ohio.

Just a doorpanel is probably about 100. By fender, do you mean the rear quarter panel? If you do, they go for about 225 and its a pro job to replace. A replacement will not be exact and will need work that goes for abour 50/hr. $ are ballpark If you have that much ready as cash, go looking further south from you NC, SC, Ga, away from the coast a bit. Tennessee is good, too. Check out traderonline.com

ive looked on ebay and traderonline many times and the price on this isnt too much off especially since its right here and runs well

I have access to a:

yellow 1967 2 door

black 1964 SS 2 door

green 1972 2 door

all of them need some work.. but not much work.. and I think you can get them cheap... especially the 72 and 67

Year One might have pics of years, otherwise I'd check Ebay for the various yrs. Consider the 64 SS dballer is talking about. An SS car will hold or appreciate better than the others. The 72 is a belly button car, everybody has one. The extra work is for the mold imperfections. They usually use the old GM die for stamping and it is worn. The metal is thinner and has waves, too. The work is to smooth it out and even the lines and stuff.

nice... with extra low suspension... make it bounce and you'll have snoop calling you up to be in his next video.

shizzle to ma nizzle, as jayz says.

The SS's will hold value and the earlier the better. Thats why I said to check the dballer 64. Most peeps think of a 63 or 64 when you say Impala so you can't lose.

Rear quarters will have to be spot welded on.. not like a front fender that bolts on.. rear quarter work is tough

I will attach some images of these cars in a few minutes...

No.. the 64 is the popular year... nobody cared about the 72... which is one of my favorite years

dballer, do you know how to replace a rocker? That is whats next on the GTO. Do I hang the door and measure? Is the door to hold the firewall inline with the rear quarter lines? The guy that was doing for that 433 I told you about punked out before he got the tough stuff done. Pisser, I'm up for it all but the paint. It'll be cool to say my first paint job was a GTO though, won't it?

I meant that the other way around. The 72 was a plain yr for me so it doesn't get me wound up much, they're all cool though, especially these days.

I would use the frame rail to hang the rocker... adjust the door after.. this is kinda tough the first time. I am just getting into the welding.. so let me ask my mentor what the easiest way is

looks nice, what engine does it have?

im really looking for a convertible though

you WILL NOT find one with a rag top.. nice... for less than 15K.... bottom line.

dballer what do yo u think about the one im looking at?

ss, red, keystone wheels, rag top, 2 door, original engine and transmission, 327 runs good, interior needs some work and has rust on one door panel and rear fender, 101 thousand miles, hes only asking 5500, im sure if i offered 5000 cash hed let it go.

I am worried about the top.. they are really pricey.. and hard to replace. Do not worry about the rust... unless they are holes.

Rag Tops bring alot of money... so you would think 5K would bring alot of car.. but in this case the car might be beat up. Have you looked at it? is it online? What state is it in... if it is.. send me a link.

See what I mean? It looks too much like a Catalina or a Grandville (bonneville, too) for my taste. Offer the man 3500 and see how he acts, no shit. Let him see cash

I think a black on black 71-72 with a white vinyl top and a 454 would be my top choice for a cruising car

its here in ky

ive looked at it it lookes in good condition, there are no holes just ssmooth rust on the rear quarter panel and door.

here is what to do... have him take the top up.. and put it down for you... 3 times... drive it around.. and MOST important.. make sure all of the electronics work.. brake lights, headlights... hi-beams.. dash lights. This is the stuff that will give you a headache down the road. If there are no holes.. go for it.. if the top is fucked... bow out.

if you give me specifics.. I will help you more on this car.

if it was me.. I would pay someone to do it.. and I have been doing this shit since I was 14... I am now 28.

so... to answer your question... it is hard.

But if the top is good... you got a car worth some $$$$ on your hands.

hmm im jsut baout sold on this car now, ill test drive it some time this week and get a better look at the electrtical stuff and the top. if its good than its only a matter of selling my jimmy to pay for it

I would not sell your Jimmy... those are the best cars EVER built.. I had a 1989... I would do just about anything for another one.

Baller! What kind of advice are you giving this boy???!!! A 67 ragtop impala with a 327?! That's a deal and a half if the car is as decent as you make it out to be, Burnboy.

on converts, you need to check 3 major places for rust.

1) Behind the top, water often builds up there.
2) In the cowl. Bring a flashlight.
3) The rocker. Because the car is a convertible, there's a lot of stress on the supports by the rocker. Rust there, leads to a very unstable car and a very difficult fix. The top isn't a big deal, but if it's busted, it's gonna cost you at least 1,100 to fix. DON'T even think about doing a convertible top yourself.

Regardless of the tops condition, open it and close it 3 times...that was good advice since a convertible frame is a bitch to fix. Electrical can be tough...but a cheap convertible is worth the headache.

Hell, why should you listen to me...I didn't recognize a busted heatercore in my car when it happened!:)

By the way, Baller, my car had to be completely gutted from teh inside. It's still in peices...that bitch.

well shit ill give you my 94 if you hook me up with a nice impala or nova or firebird!

FUCK!!! I just got rid of a 69 SS Nova... with a 396.... it just needed a few interior parts... but the paint was fresh.... DAMN!!!

I want another Jimmy!!!

I live in Atlanta.
I can find you a car... I think I can hook you up.. I do not recommend a drop top.. I like muscle cars.... so let me see. If you are for real about this, drop me a line. I can for sure get you somthing.
