Well it has been almost 24 hours since my last cigarrette. Lets just say that I am not a happy camper, and probably will not be for awhile. I just made a decision not to do it anymore, and I figured that going cold turkey is the best way. Trying to tell my body that is a different story though.

Thank you to everyone for their advice on this topic.
 
Hey -- Congrats!! I for one am very proud of you!! You can do it!!

Try to find some way to deal with the issues that will come up that will make you want to smoke.....plan in advance....

Any ideas? I kind of just quit but had no real plan for how to continue. I guess I thought it would just happen naturally, boy was I wrong. LOL
 
I hope you can make your way through it. Your gonna eat alot. That's expected. Try not to dwell on it. Keep your mind busy i.e watch tv or something. If your a drinker/smoker...don't drink for a while. If your friends smoke, take some time away from them..It's gonna be rough, but you can do it! Good luck!

Edit... I used to chew (way way more nicotine then cigarettes) so I know what your going through
 
Well you are going thru withdrawl....

I never smoked so I don't have personal experience, but from watching my parents try to quit, little things would start them smoking again. Like, stress or whatever -- just think about those times when something may set you off & plan for how you'll deal with it.

Wish my parents had quit before smoking killed them.....:(

one of my friends used the patch......


another one was prescribed wellbutrin


i only smoke when i drink, so i don't really feel the nicotine addict's pain

Yea you could try licking things to get your mind off cigarettes. ;)

I've never smoked a cigarette in my lifetime but I would think that if you replaced the hand motion of smoking with something else and kept your hand/mouth occupied it may be a bit easier for you. Chewing gum may also help. Just keep telling yourself you want to be healthy and want to be around for a long time.
