Does this mean i didnt get a good workout?
Ive been liftin for years but was always curoius. I only get sore after returning from a rest or on raRE occasion

Soreness is no way to gauge the efficacy of a workout. You should only be sore if you're not conditioned. Once you adjust to any new exercises, routines, or amounts of volume, you won't be sore. This isn't a bad thing. Dont use soreness as a way to check the effectiveness of a workout. Many people don't get sore and yet they still grow like weeds. It might be a nice feeling some times, but just because it's not present doesn't mean you didn't have a good session.

Yea thats what I figured. I haVve grown alot in my time and dont remember being sore alot. But got sore as hell the other day and just wondered

Beg to differ (please, PLEASE! let me differ!) there.

I've been training hard for 3 years now. Intense routines 1 hour at a time. I've had lots of feedback from folks at the gym. I STILL get sore all the time.

Typically I do a 3-4 day split. I've grown substantially in the last 3 years (naturally). But I make myself sore EVERY week just by working HARD.

I am definately conditioned.

While I agree, if you're NOT conditioned, you should be sore I certainly don't think the reverse is necessarily true. Personally, I actually like the soreness (DOMS). Makes me feel like I've done something the day before and stimulates my desire to do more that day (but I don't, just light cardio).

Just my opinion.

There are 3 conditions which will create soreness:

1 - The muscle or muscle group is unfamiliar with the range of motion it is being subjected to.
2 - The muscle or muscle group has been overworked.
3 - Incorrect form has been used to perform an exercise.

Condition 1 will correct itself after a day or two.
Condition 2 is a detriment to correct muscle development.
Condition 3 can lead to possible injury.

umh no!

Soreness is not a factor of a good workout. I can blast my chest and not be sore, yet it does not mean that I didn't get a good workout. I usually get sore when I switch exercises and do something different.
Also, saying when one should be sore isn't the same for everyone. There's no formula for it because we're all different and our bodies react differently.
