HiDnGoD

New member
for Florida on Friday.
Wife & kid & I are driving down.
We're going to be in Largo(Clearwater) for a week. We're going to Canaveral, Sea World & Epcot Center.
What else is worth seeing?

busch gardens for sure, adventure island is nice but im not sure if its open yet
clearwater beach is very nice
why are you staying on the west coast if you are going to go to attractions on the east coast and central florida?

LOL, Mother in Law has a trailer, goes down for the winter. The only thing I personally must see is the Space Center. & find a gym for a coupla visits. The rest is for the wife. If I had my 'druthers, I'd be on the beach every day.

Wouldn't it be faster and cheaper to fly down there and rent a car locally? Driving from Canada to Florida and back will really rack up the extra mileage fees on the rental agreement.

there is an option for unlimited miles

CAA has an agreement with Hertz. We get a good dela, unlimited mileage. Plus scenery on the way, even on the Interstate is great (I've driven to Atlanta before). Plus, I wanna minimize the time I'm actually with my M.I.L.'s Husband. I don't wanna have to feed the gators, LOL.

You might find St. Augustine interesting - its the longest settled area in the US. The San Marco fort is sort of cool and the city tour itself is interesting. Don't know how old your kids are but there's some cool history there. If they are more 'hip' than 'tourist', stop at Ron Jon's in Daytona & get them some surfer wear.

When you get down by Clearwater, ask the locals if you can still dig for shark teeth on Venice Beach there. Not sure if they've replenished the beach enough that you can't find the teeth anymore.

If you go across I-75 / Aligator Alley, you might enjoy a nice swamp boat tour. Very cool as well!

Clearwater is a small town but it has some beautiful beaches (I stayed there for two months).

Tampa is a crappy little city but it has some cool places

Klu should bungie jump off the Sunshine skyway bridge. Hidngod, check out Ybor city in Tampa for skanks galore.

Actually, Busch Gardens Tampa is a good place as Hammy suggested.

DID you leave yet ?

Stop off at Sanibel Island and do the Sanibel Stoop. Shelling along the beach.
Awesome shells can be found daily.

Bush Gardens is good in Tampa. Brewery tour, Roller Coasters, Skip it if you are going to Sea World(also owned by AnhiBush) and Animal Kingdom. Both are better.

EPCOT is not a kids type Place IMO except for maybe the Mission Space ride, and
it is pretty rough and may weird out your kids depending on how old they are. Epcot is like a tour of various countries with exhibits and crap and lots of good food and goods from them.

Disneys Amimal Kingdom is awesome if you like Animals and Zoos etc.
Very high end natural exhibits and rides there.

yeah the tour has been closed for quite a long time, not sure why
they do still have the free beer tasting though
they have added quite a few attractions in the past 5 years

That's OK.
The tour sucked anyway but the free beer was good.
You had to go to different lines and do stuff like wear a hat and then
take it off and wear shades so you could get around the 3 beer max per person.

I just take my wife along and she get beers and gives it to me.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
It was great. Drive not too bad, worse on the way down, I75. Better on the way back, I77. Mostly did the things the inlaws wanted to show us. Got some nice sun on the beach. Cold the first coupla days. Made it to Sea world, crowds sucked ass, but the dophin & killer whale show was awesome.
Made it to Kennedy Space Center. amazing.
I'll prepare a proper report later.
