I'm in Whistler B.C. now!

I was there one time skiing, and you are right, it is beautiful. Beautiful, but also the coldest place on earth I think. Next year I would like to try Bamff (Sp??). Anybody ever been there?

Cold?? Whistler is probably the warmest ski hill in Canada, last time I was there I skied in just a fleece hoody. You must have gone on a rotton day or somthing. I've skied Sunshine and Goatseye in Banff a few times; it's a nice place to ski but Whistler is way better IMO.

I've been to Banff too. It's beautiful there. Skiied Lake Louise and Sunshine Village. Awesome places.
Still prefer Whistler/Blackomb.

I live about 280 miles from there(Wa state) worth the drive? never been skiing before, I take it this place is not a good spot to learn?

I think big mountains are the best place to learn. Go there and then gondola up to the very top of the mountain. Strap on your ski's or board and ride a Green run all the way down. When you hit the bottom 2 hours later you'll be a full fledged ski bunny.

Definatly learn on the hard stuff, otherwise you get to comfortable on the small shit and freak on the large hills later.

I was put on black diamond first time out and I did horrible, bruised my tailbone etc but I have the concepts down now and just need to commit more when changing edges to carve

Thanks guys.

Kronk: my new setup has been performing phat this seaon.. I ended up with a regular width board.. and something smaller @ 160cm.

p0ink: yeah I work, I luckily have a job that gives me paid vacation and enough salary to actually use it sometimes!

I don't find Whistler cold at all.. Mammoth can get FREEZING at night.. down here in the Whistler Villiage it gets chilly, but not uncomfortable.

And yeah if you are iu WA it is definitely worth the drive, and they have a ton of instructors here and with you lesson you get to go to the front of the lift lines, which are extremely long sometimes. The lower part of the mountain does suck though, total slush fest.. but the upper part is killer. We had so much snow yesterday it was great.

I love living in BC...
I'm like an hour and 15 minutes from whistler/blackcomb... definitely awesome.... Such an AWESOME atmoshpere up there

well I'm back in San Diego now.

The trip to Whistler was great and I reccomend it to anyone.

This weekend I'm taking an extra day off and heading out to Mammoth!

Next year I'm taking a week off for Aspen or Utah.
