I'm in SSRI withdrawal at this moment

I've felt like crap all day with horrible nausea. I vomited at work. I thought I was coming down with a virus but the only symptom was nausea. When I got home from work I noticed my pill container. I count them out once a week and put them in a container that has one section for each day. I saw that yesterday's and today's pills were still there. Doofus forgot to take his cymbalta and Xanax XR. I think most of the sickness is from the cymbalta. I quit SSRIs one time and it was HELL! I've been taking xanax for 18 years. One time I forgot to bring my pills on a trip. I went 4 days without any xanax. It wasn't fun but I didn't get as sick as I did quitting an SSRI. The worst part is that I'm hooked on cymbalta and the shit doesn't help me one bit.

Does anyone else think antidepressants are a sham and the damn things just don't work? They fuck with your brain and make you sick when you try quitting thus keeping you taking them forever.

they absolutely work. you are specifically told not to quite cold turkey and not without physician supervision. dont forget your pills and youll be fine.

I took a zoloft when I was 18 when I drunk just to see what it would do. Made me feel like shit!

I have personal experience with these drugs and am finally off them for good. I have done a lot of research as I needed to know what was going on with me. There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance in the brain that can be messured first of it is just a theory. While the drugs do seem to work for some in the beginning there are many more problems with them that have been hushed. Stomach issues is one huge one there is actually more serotonin in your stomach than in your brain so increasing serotonin can cause severe stomach distress expecially with long term use. There is a list of side effects as long as my arm and if you stay on them long enough they will poop out stop working and you will be in withdrawal which most doctors will not recognise. Poop out symptoms are very much like withdrawal. For me withdrawal was sever, disabling and lasted over a year. I was in pooped out for much longer and was very ill till I quit taking the drug.

Here is the kicker for me they do make you feel better in the beginning but the reason is NOT that you were down a quart of serotonin in your brain it is that the serotonin is raping you adrenal glands yep that is what I believe again this is only a theory but it is as good as the one the drug companies have used to sell zillions of dollars worht of these drugs.

The reason I favour this theory is it explains much of the fallout of taking these drugs for years the chronic fatigue the pain symdrome ect ect ect. you can find the article here and decide for yourself. It also explains the honeymoon phase at the start of taking ssri and snri drugs adrenaline is up lots of energy and may need something added to take the edge off so you can sleep at times sound familuar? In my opinion both the ssri and the sleep aid will cause withdrawal.

While I do not agree with everything on this site there is some gold. This article in particular is a fav of mine.

ps hyperchondria is a symptom of low serotonin when the body has shut down serotonin receptors in the brain because there is too much serotonin and you quit taking the drugs it can take a year or more for this to even out some say 18 - 24 months the hyperchondria is generally in the first 6 months.

Hope this helps.
