I've been lifting on and off for about three years now. Things have changed
and i have learned many different approaches and techniques to do things. I
have many friends who are amateur and pro bodybuilders and powerlifters.
Over the past three years i have mastered squatting, powercleaning,
deadlifting. During football all we did was powerlifting. I ate about eight meals
a day back during football a couple of years ago and went from 175lbs to
205lbs in 5 months. I'm stuck at around 23% bodyfat now and i'm only 5'7. 5
months ago during spring break i got down to 177lbs, but now i'm back at
197. I've been eating horrible needless to say and killing my body.
it's my freshman year at the university of toledo and the food is nasty. it's
hard because i can't cook anything in my room. bryon, one of my amateur
bodybuilder friends who's father was a pro bodybuilder always told me i
should lift five days a week with a day for chest/bis, traps/shoulders, back
legs, and tri's/light bis. I have been lifting like that for a year now and made
a lot of progress.
i want your opinion on whether i should start up another 5x5 or keep doing this 5 day a week cycle.
now i would just like to get smaller and cut down. all they ever have is pizza
and burgers in the cafeteria, but i take the meat off the burgers and throw it
in a salad and eat some turkey with that. whats really killing me is all the
drinking and smoking. my friends throw keggers 5 to 6 days a week and my
other friends smoke every day and just give it to me for free. i realize its
college and everyones trying new things but someday i would love to
complete. people look at me and tell me i'm huge at college but i feel nothing
like that. i'm overweight now and doing horrible things to my body. I made a
promise to myself to only drink on the weekends now because i got snapped
with an underage today when i was in a room and not even drinking. it
smelled like vodka which my friends drank earlier so they wrote us all up. for
the rest of this week and next week iam going to keep going on my friends
split. starting the monday after next i wanted to start a new program. i
wondered if a 5x5 split for eight to twelve weeks would do better for me than
working out 5 days a week. i would like to do a 5x5 with a four day split
instead of a three day one. 5x5 previously brought my bench from 170 to 235
and my squat up from 255 to 405. my powerclean also went up from 155 to
225. Special thanks to biggt and everyone else that helped me out. i'm really
angry at myself lately because so much bad things are happening to me and
drinking and smoking let me blow some anger off. fall break is this weekend
and im going to let all the steam off myself. after that ill only drink on the
weekends and quit smoking alltogether. I'm going to create a journal online
and a notebook to track everything i eat, lift, and do. i'm also going to
schedule everything in advance like i used to do. i will post all of my progress
pictures sometime very soon. i have trouble doing cardio because of such
bad shin splints. but iam going to start running 30 minutes a day. this forum
has helped me more than any other forum in my life. back when football
coaches told me i was too short and weak to push people around you all
helped me change that. i will be setting my goals and pursuing them. thanks
for all of your support.
