If you could have an old muscle car, what would you choose?

My dad had a 67 corvette stingray...it was pretty nice. It was game at the prom...I parked it myself, nobody else was going to drive it.

i think 426hp. i think the hp was usually the same as the displacement or really close.

It was factory rated at 425 hp, but the corrected dyno numbers were over 460.

What is a muscle car? Is it a gas guzzling destroyer of the planet?:)

I'll have to remember that! lol

Without all the technicalities (cause I don't want to know them) my kid has an almost FINISHED total rebuild of a 62 nova in the garage. I've asked him why he only put in two front seats with a harness system that would make any mother proud and a roll bar in it? "Don't worry about it Mom " yea right!

don't forget about the Big Block Buicks of the 60's and early 70's.... a stage 1 455 buick was one sneaky, fast MOFO back then! in that time period each GM division had their own engines and tuned their suspensions differently. buicks of that time period were known to have much better brakes than the other GM divisions.

my '64 buick riviera, with every power option known to man (even power front vent windows!!) had the 425 engine with 2 4 barrel AFB (Awful Fukin Bad) carbs from the factory. when the secondaires on the first carb came "on line", the turbo 400 transmision down-flushed to "passing gear" and the second 4-barrel carb kicked in, all within 2 nano-seconds of each other, the visual and audio thrill would take my breath away.

my '71 "boat tail" riviera had the Big Block Buick 455 stage 1 engine, conservately rated at 360 horsepower and 455 foot-pounds of tire-shredding torque. unlike a lot of high horsepower cars, it had the traction to use it's abundant power and had the brakes to haul you down to a stop sign quickly. it handled as well/much better than ANY car of that time period did, taking curves much faster than you would think a 5000 pound car could. it was, to my view point, the ultimate (for that time period) combination of acceleration, handling and braking available, wrapped up in a curvy, comfortable body and luxurious, stylish, comfortable interior with every power/convience option known available at the time.

i WISH i had that '71 riv back!!!!!!!

i'm a big fan of the gsx. . .never got the respect and admiration that the chevelles, goats, camaros or even the cutlass's got. . .but they were badass automobiles and didn't require much magic to breathe fire
