If Tiger Juiced

I hit my first 310 yard drive today. I thought tiger looked a little thick last weeknd, is golf next for a scandal? hmmm

He's always been weight training. The effort he puts into it is one of the things that sets him apart from the field. But they still don't get that this is why there is Tiger Woods and then everyone else in Golf. I don't think he juices. He'd be way bigger if he did. I think it's just mature muscle over the last 7 years of training.

Your joking right? Tiger has a lean strong upper body w/stick legs. Remove this thread lol

its the technique man, nothing to do with strength

Tiger has always been in really good shape and is actually quite muscular. When he won his first masters, he didn't look that big and was repping out 225 on bench. I doubt he juices, why would he take the risk of damaging connective tissue?

lol dont take this so seriously..IF tiger juiced..you know how bad ass he would be spanking 400+ yards!

Tiger's driving is rather terrible at the moment. Pretty impressive to win two majors this year, with mostly using Irons off the tee;s.

kept him in the fairway and if i hit a 7 iron 190 I would't need woods either!

If I had to bet-on whether or not he has ever used steroids, I'd bet that he has used them. Shortly after he joined the tour, he gained 30 lbs. of muscle. He is also rumored to work-out 3 hours per day. Anyone who is involved with his workout regiment is sworn to secrecy.

Don't be so sure golfers aren't using juice. I believe the Royal Golf Association (European counter-part of USGA) is going to test before at least one tournament next year. Makes one wonder....

If strength doesn't matter then why have so many golfers gotten into weight lifting. They use to say the same thing about baseball. Flexibility and explosive strength are key to long drives. Butch Harmon has mentioned the importance of Tiger Woods maintaining flexibility while gaining muscle.

I had a friend who was a D-I golfer who juiced. I'm not a long hitter by any means, but on pro-hormones (legal) my average drive went from 265-275 yards to about 285-295 yards. Adding 20 yards to their drive would be absolutely huge for any pro?

Also, don't say Tiger doesn't juice because of his body. How many major league baseball players are on steroids? I'd guess a minimum of 2/3rds. How many of those players have a "steroid body".

By the way, I've also heard Tiger does reps with 315 lbs. Not huge, but more than 150% of bodyweight is never shabby.

not too shabby at all

he had to slim down at one point because he was packing on too much muscle and it was effecting his agility and swing technique

ive seen a 14 yr old hit the ball 315 yards

Who's the 14 year old girl who you saw hit it 315? How far does she carry the ball? Was that on a flat surface? I think Michelle Wie might be able to hit it 300, but I've never heard of a 14 year old girl hitting it 315. Do you understand how far a 315 yard drive is (the difference between 270 and 315 is absolutely huge). Each year, the longest hitter on the PGA tour averages about 315 yards (I believe the longest hitters on the LPGA tour average about 280). Back in the day, 315 was a huge drive for John Daly.

Checkout this link: http://www.longdrivers.com/statistics/ (pre-eminent long-drive competition)

According to the link:

"In 2003, top-ranked Brian Pavlet averaged 359.62 yards on drives that found the grid. Second-ranked David Mobley averaged 356.67 per drive. Carl Wolter, who finished second to Pavlet on the money list, averaged 354.90."

"In the women's division, second-ranked Sally Dee averaged 280.63 per drive, while third-ranked Lee Brandon posted a 278.27 average. The duo staged a season-long battle for the tour money title, with Dee coming out on top."

These are the longest male and female drives in the world.

Most men hit the golf ball way, way past women.

Sorry, I thought you said girl. If it's a guy, I believe it.

By the way, I use to be a 2 handicap...probably a 7 or 8 now (only play about once a month now).

ya well i shot a fuckin whopping 85 today

Um...Golf is boring. It would be a better sport if the fans could talk and heckle like they do in other sports. Besides tennis and golf, I can't think of a sport where you are not allowed to talk. What kind of bs is that? They make a few million dollars a year (at least the good ones do), not counting endorsements. At the least they should have to hear people talking, this would seperate the good players from the superstars.

I think that Tiger would get rattled easily if people were heckling him. Ever heard of the zone, it doesn't exist in those sports because people aren't allowed to talk. The players may get hot, but they never enter into a zone where they can't hear anything around them and are so focused on the ball. This is very revelant to a mlb pitcher and batter. They are basically solo sports during that time, but they have so much noise around them, they zone in to the game and the noise fades away.

say what u want about it but i bet its one of the toughest sports to play, i dont care what u say

the point is if tiger himself ever decided to juice and he could control his power we would see some unreal shit. as it is he is dominating the field which only puts pressure on the other younger players to enhance their game and until woods are made of kryptonite i think golf will be the next sport within 10 years for a scandal

I never said it wasn't hard to play, as it is very hard. These guys are exceptional at golf, which is why they are pro's, so to them the game isn't as hard as it is for someone like me or you.

But you missed my main point. How can we call it a sport when the fans aren't even allowed to say things. This would seperate the good players from the weak ones. Ever think Michael Jordan could have hit a game winning shot if he couldn't tone out the crowd.

Ok, if we can agree that gear would benefit golfers, the next logical question would be if they would use it. If other athletes have chosen to use steroids, I don't see why golfers wouldn't.

My personal feeling is that steroids wouldn't offer as many advantages to the longer hitters who are in their late 20's and early 30's as the players in their mid-30's to early 40's who hit the ball straight but are "distance challenged" and trying to remain on the tour as long as possible...that player trying to keep his tour card for his family.

Golf,

Would be the first thing outlawed if I ruled the world.

Basketball second.

Sounds like golf has kicked your ass more than once :)
I would outlaw soccer and tennis

i say even the younger players that can already crush it would benefit. think about it courses are being lengthened all over the country because the average drive on tour is 50 yards longer than it was 50 years ago. Just because you can crush it 300+ doesn't mean you wouldn't benefit from a 400+ tshot. and yes absolutely agree about the phils and the vejays having to complete against the lukes and the sergios, they will need an edge.

i played D1 golf and started juicing sophmore year and it made a huge difference between freshman and sophmore years, for example i started hitting my pw 140-145 yards. also we never got tested, maybe things are different now, this was 7 years ago

The fact that men hit the ball farther than women is conclusive proof that strength is a MAJOR contributing factor with regard to how far a person can hit a golf ball.

I played golf once. I did not understand the whole deal until finally it dawned on me when driving up in a tight little bikini top was a godess selling me beer. It all came together right then and there. This is why people golf! lol!
