As long as the major oil companies are the major contributors to the Presidential campaigns , alternative energy sources will not be fully exploited due to the fact that that oil companies lobby against it..
If oil gets to $200 things will change. Personally, I can afford $10 a gallon for gasoline and I would be willing to pay that if it would force the auto industry and other industries to start making more efficient vehicles and sources of power.
The point is this: Before we invaded Irag, oil was $39 dollars a barrel.. Now its $100.00 a barrel... Now if we go and invade the number 2 exporter of the worlds oil , it will have a devastating effect on the price, guaranteed.

exxon's share holders will make a ton of money.
and i wouldn't be suprized if a financially stable bro such as your self has shares of exxon wrapped up in a energy mutual fund.
Cuts both ways. If every house had solar power, people in the oild industry wouldn't have jobs. It's like when people said "computers will take or jobs!" then we said well, we need people to fix the computers.
you do realize that the oil industry in this country are a bunch of suits........right? They're middle men...........they buy oil from other countries and then resell it here. So the U.S switching to altnernative fuel sources won't affect any jobs here in the states except for some businessmen that can move very well laterally in the workplace anyway.
