what's the worst that will happen?

post your worst case senarios, pls.

If the asian car markets gain a much larger % of US domestic auto sales, their economies will indeed strengthen much over our own.

Not that I oppose foreign economies becoming more wealthy, cuz that's the name of the game, but I prefer our domestic economy to stay as strong as possible, even though it currently blows.

The worst? I won't get that new mustang I was hoping to get in a couple years. Oh well. lol.

I say if a company runs itself into the ground, let them do it.

The unemployment of our citizens is probably the worst thing though IMO. I hate knowing that people are having hard times.

More people without jobs and on welfare gives the government more reason to implement socialist and communist notions.

The airlines are next up.

Will we say the same shit to them? We're okay with prices doubling and airlines shutting down?

Americans are selfish. They only go for bailouts if you can prove it affects THEM personally.

WILL....WILL all these auto workers be unemployed? or will the auto companies declare bankruptsy, re-organize and continue to employ Americans and still build cars and trucks?

All I know is come January there are going to be a lot of cheap cars out there. I'm quite sure that the big 3 will be giving them away and the salespeople will be making incredible deals just to get revenue in the door.

American car industry got themselves into this mess. They can get themselves out.

well maybe the foreign auto makers will build more plants here. They do make toyotas, subarus, haodas ect right here.

Foreign automakers in the US employ about 100k people.

Domestic automakers in the US employ about 200k people.

They're getting killed and many will go out of business.

Same with suppliers. Big 3 drop their orders by 30-40% and they lay off a ton of people.

The only winner is the UAW workers who get their pay for 3 years if they're laid off. They just sit at home and get fatter.

BK spreads the wealth,as for the UAW right now not going BK just helps them and no one else.

Chapter 11, everyone (inclusing management) is fired. All contracts are gone, pension fund as well. A few weeks later, they rebuild GM and bring back everyone (except management and a few bad apples) but at their own condition.

Thats what happened here a few years ago with Air Canada. The bankruptcy was actually a good thing since it allowed a "restructuration".... lol

Uh, that's in Canada....... it's different. If the union president would take the slight pay cuts that they need I bet it would go. But damn, they are beotching about it. Now that is redickulas. I mean come on now, people know that half the people that work at these places are fucking lazy. I can name so many people.... ok example:

I know someone who worked at Ford. They clocked in and left for home. They cut their grass, went back to work and clocked out. this went on for years and years. WTF! Seriously, and it's even a debate wether or not to give them money knowing this sheot. WTFF!

Yup. And the scary thing is it's quite common. Engineers at a Ford supply plant I used to work at were making 80-90k a year, had been there for 15 years and literally played cards and got pissed if they actually had to work.

They will do just that AND the Asian mfr's will take up some of their slack. It's the best thing to do. The worst case is giving them the money and they STILL fail. I think that is likely to happen.

Its amazing we dont just see what the British did (and how they failed) and not do the exact same thing.

Their pensions will be fine. See the PBGC.
