If I pierced through a vien..?

Should the area become bruised afterwards or sore?

I've been shooting delts for quite a while now, but with my luck, the past 3 shots I've had alot of blood come from them.

Unless it was a nerve that I hit?

I can feel the pain when I jab the needle in, so I'm sure I hit something, but 'What is it" is my question?

Thanks

You know I got the same thing when I was over doing my delts. All of a sudden I couldnt get one that wouldnt bleed a lot and hurt. I laid off delts for a while and when I came back to them a few weeks later I didnt have the problem any more. A bruise means bleeding under the skin so you probably went through a vein. hth

Hitting just muscle can cause pain and bruising. If you hit a vein while inserting the needle you will see a "flash" of dark blood in the syringe due to the pressure of the venous blood flow. Plus the venous blood will be kinda dark like wine. Hitting an artery hurts alot more, but it is harder to do since arteries are deeper. Body's defense mechanism i guess. If you hit an artery you will see a much bigger "flash" in the syringe due to the much higher pressure.

Either way, ice it off and on after injecting for the first 48 hours.

flexing your muscle can cause pain and exessive bleeding, sometimes even small flexing (you don't even realize you are doing that).
Anyway, hitting a blood vessel (is it spelled right?) can cause exessive bleeding as well.
needle also causes some damage travelling through muscle tissue. You certainly cannot use the same area over and over again. Switch areas, especially if you do injections often ED or even EOD.

So, what you felt hitting could have been just needle traveling through muscle tissue as well. No sweat...
