Getting back to business here:

http://www.gwca.org/

My wife and I went through this process. These people know how to get the deal done form both the US and the Chinese side. The one big drawback for you is you will have to spend about 4 weeks in China after you do the adoption to when you can take the child back (that is how long it will take to get her passport etc to get back into the US).
I could arrange that. Thanks for the info!

You are going to think this is expensive at first but it is no more than what it would cost you to adopt a baby here. I loaned a friend of mine some money back on 1992 to adopt and it was $14k back then.

But I'm doing okay financially and have reliable insurance, am stable at work, and at home. Devin has a stable home life. My salary now is very good, and so it is equivalent to 2 parents if they just worked middle class type jobs. I'm not dependant on anyone and have taken out life insurance and arranged for things for dev in case I'm ever in an accident or get sick and die. His life is very happy, and I think I could provide this for 2 kids.
I don't DOUBT that you probably are making more than enough $$$ to cover two kids. Money is the least of the problems with kids, though. And believe me, if anyone understands about wanting to have another child, it's me. But as a responsible adult you have to weigh the dream of what YOU want versus what is truly BEST for the child you have responsibility for now. Siblings do not always get along, in fact sometimes they're positively homicidal to each other. And I'm telling you, boys, in particular, don't get easier. I'm not exaggerating, boys go through a ... stage ... is all I can think it's best called. They turn into total fucking assholes to the adult women in their lives, particularly if they live in a single parent household (personally, I think it's genetic to head off inbreeding), but the teen years are the worst, second only to the headaches of dealing with daycare and elementary school situations.

$$$ are the least of the problems being a parent in general. Fuck dying, what happens if you get in a car accident and can't move for about a month? It's a shit load easier to farm out ONE kid, scrambling to get coverage for two is twice as hard.

I had a fiance when Devin was conceived. He hasn't helped a bit other than donating sperm and Devin and I are doing well and happy. People CAN raise children as single parents, you know? With more than half of marriages ending in divorce, I would think that the risk of marrying and putting a kid through a bitter custody battle and all that bullshit is even greater than the risks of being reared by a single mom, but call me crazy.
exactly! iv never seen my dad, and i turned out....no wait i am a very strange young man. my bad.

I did enter the thread saying I had full intension of playing Devil's advocate.

Children are a lot tougher to get rid of than an unruly dog or an unwanted cat. Fucking cops and CSIs ask WAY too many questions these days.

Just become a really aggressive cougar and get yourself knocked up by some random bar dude.

Okay, no more negativity on this thread. This is a serious topic, and I'm not going to waste it defending my parenting as a single mom, etc.

HR, are you a lawyer because you are naturally hard headed or are you hard headed because you ARE a lawyer.... just askin.
