I Want Vegetables!!!!!

Temple

New member
and I want them NOW!!!!! Not that crap you buy in the store but FRESH vegetables. You know, likes comes out of the garden about this time of year or at least has for every year that I can remember except this one!!!! Don't get me wrong, I don't garden - it would never survive the neglect. But, my mother does and because of the drought (no things do not do as well without rain no matter how much water you dump on it) and excessive heat there are NO beans, FEW cucumbers and just enough squash to smell not taste and don't even think about a tomato. There aren't even any roadside stands this year. My husband (God bless him) did manage to locate some beans for me and I am going to cook them and founder on them.

This does apply to Women's fitness....doesn't it????
Okay, rant over.

hmmmm... well take some ala with them..hehe now it does apply! lol

wow... sorry about that ... down south we have true Farmer's Markets ... due to some drought we just pay a little more - you can definitely love that home-grown stuff

my neighbours garden and have chicken and goats and I get fresh veggies and eggs either for free or for very little.
(no i dont go steal them)

No veggies would cause me great unhappiness. You might have to succumb to the CRAP you buy in the stores :( It could be worse. It could be the middle of winter (like it is here right now) and the only veggies you can get are carrots, brassicas, swiss chard and stored stuff like spuds/pumpkin/onions......It gets a bit monotonous but springs around the corner. Oh yeah, to make it relevant to women's fitness and health, I could mention all the possible benefits of phytochemicals in brassicas, carotenoids in pumkin and carrots, sulphur rich compounds in onions and carlic, ummmmm and LOTS of iron in swiss chard. Not to mention fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, etc......

Oh, and fresh is best even if it's not very exciting.
