I think someone tried to scam me.

I got an e-mail the other day. "hey bro I saw your post on elite, I know a guy on the east coast if you're interested" " great prices and he's got references" My first thought was kind of suspicious, then I thought what the hell. I emailed the source and he sent me a price list. When I saw the list I knew something wasn't right. The prices just seemed a little too good, awesome prices to say the least. So I did some research. I asked the source for a few refs, he emailed me four names. None of the names could be found on a search of EF. So I emailed a mod, who never heard of the guy. I then emailed two of his references. Here's where all the red flags went up. All the refs and the source did similar things.

They all started their sentences with lower case letters.
They ended their sentences with no punctuation.
Used the same abbreviations; ur=your, u=you, i=I
The two refs that I e-mailed, The first replied at 12:25 pm, and the second replied at 12:30pm.

Now since I didn't order anything technically I wasn't scammed, but what do you think would have happened?

Not at all true..........my first and best source actually contacted me. This is not always the case, but this practice does exist.

You must check refs indenpendently. Not the ones listed on sources lists. They sometimes either make slight misspellings, or use different email domains.

Actually luck had nothing to do with it, been in the game for a very long time and with a little work, you can tell who is legit or not. Not to say I have not run across my share of scammers along the way, just pointing out that legit ones have worked this way and continue to do so to a point.

Money to burn ?.........not at all. A fact was stated is all. It is true that 99% of emails and PM`s from sources are bogus. But falling for them is another story and I feel it is your fault for doing so if you don`t check them out completely. Many of us who have been here along time know that a few legit ones at times worked this way. No, they didn`t send random emails looking for business, in fact they do a bit of homework as well on the individuals before contact. It is called business.
