That is what I thought too then I read something this weekend (I think) that had Davis putting the blame on Kifen for picking Russell and that he was against it.
How would you like to be Russell? Everyone pointing the finger at someone else for hiring you. Ouch!

My interpretation was that Davis attempted to create a fake document suggesting Kiffen approved of the Russell draft.

I just know this. The Raiders have sucked for 6 years now. They've had five coaches, good players come and go, the ONE constant in that equation has been Al Davis. He pretty much makes every decision except calling plays. he runs the draft. He's responsible. He has dropped the ball on countless free agents they could have picked up and wasted money on shitheads like Javon Walker.

Kiffin wanted to fire the defensive coordinator a long time ago. Davis said no. Now offensive scoring is up but the Raiders have blown 3rd quarter leads in 4 of the last 5 losses. That's on Davis, not Kiffin.
