I so want to kill someone right now... I just don't know who it is.

Someone spilled silver paint on the hood of my car. I can't get it off, so that means the hood will have to be sanded and repainted, which, from what I am told, is like $300-500.
fucking a.

it is a silver metallic paint, like what they do fire hydrants and chainlink fences in - almost like an enamel or epoxy, and it is on my fucking blue car.
If I had somehow fucked up and gotten paint on the car, I'd be fine with it - but some other asshole did it, and if I knew who it was, I'd fucking take a bat to their kneecaps the asshole....

so pissed.

try taking it off with goo be gone!!!!!!then use a rubbing compound by 3m on the hood then a good wax.

tried the goo stuff - it worked great on the goo, and didn't do a thing to the paint that is on there.

Tried stuff that is designed to take overspray paint of (A clay thing) and that also didn't do anything other than make a huge mess, which I then cleaned up with wd-40.

the only thing I haven't tried is a paint removing solvent in fear of stripping the car's paint off, but I will try that soon and hope that it only gets the bad paint and maybe the clear coat and then just redo the clear coat on the hood.

I've looked at all the places I've parked and I can't figure out how the fuck the stuff got there. and I'm real pissed.

if you have an industrial strength buffer get a foam pad for it and get some 3M paint cleaner or other finish cleaner with some mild grit in it. should do the trick. then just rewax the hood a couple times

hmm - I can get one I guess, don't have one now.

I'll give that a try - although I need to take it in for service very soon, so I might see if they can do it cheaply then.

thanks for the help/suggestions HH!!

i think if its oil paint, its not coming off... do what ham said, if that doesn't work, then i think you gotta sand and repaint.

Then you can just go to a bar and break a stool over some losers head, im sure itll put a smile on your face.

I'm not usually a fighting person. I haven't been in a fight since grade school.
but this has made me sooooo frickin mad.
no note left, no nothing. just what looks to be about two shot glasses full of this shit splashed onto my hood.

and I think it is oil based - the problem is, it looks to be the sort of paint that you put on metal and that you don't take off... so it makes me wonder if it was an accident or some prick kid just fucking shit up for fun.

I need to call my insurance dude tomorrow and see what my insurance covers (if anything) in terms of vandalism.

happy, yeah an industrial buffer is like 200 and if you've never used one don't you will burn the paint. take it to a reputable detail shop. they can probably get it off. also when you call your insurance company don't ask if it is covered tell them you need to file a claim. geez didn't they break your window and steal a bunch of stuff too. a birdy told me that

hmmm - does that mean I have to actually break the window? - hell, I should just drive to Southie and have it really broken into - there are cds scattered all over the flor and backseat of my car.

Happy, you should try anything possible

since the bottom line is that you have to let it repaint.
Maybe heating it with a hairdryer will make it loose. It's worth the try. It's used this way to remove stickers, just don't overdo it with the heat.
